The shops are wonderful. We especially loved the one that sold marionettes. There is a Languiole knife shop that had a nice selection of their knives. There is also a small Berthillion ice cream shop there too.

As the title says, you haven't been to Paris if you haven't taken a walk around the Ille de l Cité. Old Paris and the Seine and a reasonably quite area for a stroll.

Lots of cute restaurants. Interesting buildings and architecture, nice views of the River/bridges. Best of all, no 'selfie stick ' sellers!Plenty of attractions in a smallish space, although we were disappointed that the Holocaust Memorial was not open, and even boarded up.. :(. That was where I really wanted to visit..

Cathedral is magnificent and well worth spending time wandering around. Didn't actually see Quasimodo but got the feel of the atmosphere. The area surrounding is well worth exploring.

Is full of stunning buildings and little squares with little cafes and shops. It has a some awesome places to visit, Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Palais de Justice, Conciergerie and The Pont Neuf , plus the bird market! Make sure to walk to the small park on the far end from the Notre Dame.

Beautiful small island with Notre Dame on one side. In the eastern parts are lots of cute shops, restaurants and ice cream places.

It is very nice to walk all over Ile de la Cite. The easiest place to get into was Notre Dame. Although there was a long line of people it didn´t take long to get into the church. Great experience. Especially the stained glass windows.

There are multiple reasons to visit the 'Ile de la Cite' while in Paris. This island surrounded by the River Seine is home to some outstanding historical treasures. In medieval times this was the perfect location for a well fortified town to grow up. At one end you have the gothic masterpiece of the Notre Dame, while at the other end is the Conciergerie and Sainte Chapelle. It is worth getting off the main tourist trail to explore the narrow streets of the island by yourself. A walking tour leaves the statue of Charlemagne every morning at 11am and takes in some of the back streets behind the Notre Dame.Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie are both worth a visit. You can get a joint ticket for €12.50, or if you are here on the first Sunday of the month, both are free. Visit the Sainte Chapelle first, it has queues around 30 minutes, the Conciergerie you can just walk right in. Sainte Chapelle has stunning stained glass, it is just one impressive room so takes very little time to look around. The Conciergerie was a former prison and wandering its extensive halls you really get a sense of medieval Paris. Highlight is a recreation of Marie Antoinette's prison cell. It was from this building that many people were lead to their deaths in the late 1700's.This island is the best place to board boats for a Seine cruise. Vedettes du Pont Neuf at the western tip, right by the Pont Neuf do hour long cruises for €14.

At the point of the Ile de la Cite sits the famous little willow tree you always see when they do scenic pictures of Paris. I love walking through the park to this tree. Get yourself an ice cream at Berthillion and take a walk. You can walk right next to the Seine and get the most wonderful view of both sides of the river. When you are finished with your walk go see the most famous church in Paris. Yep, Notre Dame. This is in the top five things you should do when you go to Paris, if you ask me.

When in the 'Latin Quarter', you really must see the Ile de la Cite. It is a beautiful place set off by Notre Dame Cathedral. From the Ile de la Cite you can see a long way down the River Seine in both directions with splendid buildings along the embankments. This is an excellent place at which to take atmospheric pictures of Paris both by day and night.

Lovely place for a walk, to browse at the shops, grab a cup of coffee and don't forget to try the famous Berthillon sorbets
