Secret beach is easy to get to and very pretty. Nice swimming and we found some decent snorkeling there, despite it being a bit windy and wavy. There aren't many spots with shade, so get there early. Our spot had quite a few sandburs.

There is little shade here so come prepared. There is great snorkeling but you have to swim way our almost to where a reef goes across the opening to the bay. There are some old sea encrusted pipes teaming with fish on the shore side of the reef but if you go on to and over the reef you can see the big boys.

The beach is not a secret; hasn't been in a long time. It was alright - but really, IMO, not as nice as many other beaches in Vieques.

If you've ever been to Vieques, you know how hard it is to name a favorite beach but this beach IS paradise. LOOOOVE it.

Every beach we tried was full, but this one still had some private little spots to enjoy. The sand was perfect, and the water was clear. Still, seemed more crowded than when we were here 7 years ago.

My wife sat on this beach for several hours and only had two other couples there. The walk from the small parking lot through the trees was only a couple minute walk and then you come out of the woods to a great beach. The water was calm and had a couple good areas for snorkeling. Definitely would recommend.

This beach was my favorite on Vieques. It has turquoise water and powder like sand. There are little shaded nooks between the palm trees and beach vegetation if you arrive early.

This is a great beach for lounging and swimming; the water is calm and easy to get in and out of. There's not much shade, so it's wise to get there early to claim a spot under palm trees.

Some guidebooks talk about good snorkeling on Secret Beach, but I sure didn't find it. First, it's easy to find this "Secret Beach," well signed and reasonable road. There are several places you can pull in through the scrub trees to get close to the beach. The crescent-shaped beach has lovely sand all around and rock/coral formations at the end of each arm of the crescent. Do NOT waste you time swimming to the left side as you face the ocean. It's all sea grass and very few fish. I saw one school of 1 1/2" Sergeant Majors, but that's it. At least at the rocks on the right side as you face the ocean, there's a bit of coral and a few more fish, but overall this was very disappointing from a snorkeling perspective. I did NOT swim further out to the right, so perhaps there is more beyond the first set of rocks. The beach is beautiful and there is some cover near the water if you need to escape the sun a bit. No services or toilets.

Secret Beach (Plata Prieta) is smaller than some of the others, but far less-traveled. You turn right off the road to Caracas and descend down a hill where there is a small parking lot. It's a short walk further downhill to the beach. While I think Caracas is the best beach on Vieques because it attracts so many different audiences, Secret is my favorite because it is more secluded and the surrounding bay is more dramatic. If you are ending your day at all the beaches, I highly recommend visiting Secret just before the sun starts to set. The light will be less-intense, allowing you to really enjoy the scenery around you.

Secret beach is pretty. It's a smaller beach than the others along this coast, and at the end is a rock formation that some people hike. We relaxed on the beach towards the rocky end, but because the beach is small and there isn't a lot of sand between the water and the trees, it was much less private as people walked by. We went snorkeling near the rocks but saw almost nothing. The water was not very clear, and the waves were probably a bit too rough to see fish. We had to be careful to not get too close to the rocks as the waves would push us against them forcefully.

The last beach we visited and not enough time - favorite beach of the trip (no snorkeling the day we were there) but a great spot, perfect water, ideal setting

Nice small beach. Only one other family on the beach. Very clean. Would definitely return. Vieques at its best.

This beach had calm waters and would be great for snorkeling or swimming, but there wasn't a whole lot of sand to lay on and it was surprising crowded. We checked it out and went elsewhere.

We all enjoyed this beach area, the seclusion and the snorkeling opportunities at the entrance of the bay.
