This is one of the best places for vegetable and fruit picking within short ride from Markham. They had a varied variety of fruits like Strawberries, Raspberries. And lot of vegetables. Since we went a bit late, we could not cover all of them. But overall a nice trip. We will do once again this summer for sure.

Farm Shop: A good selection of farm fresh produce, jams and jellies, sauces and spices. Don't miss the butter tarts they're great.Pick your Own: Wonderful fresh picked flavour - go at the beginning of each veg/fruit season to get the best choice. For some there is a minimum $5 (I think) deposit per person including kids so beware before bringing a bigger group of children unless you plan to pick loads or feel you get $5 of fun from the experience each! Best raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, peas I've ever had though - can't beat fresh picked with no transit time. Fun Farm: climbing frames, corn maze, ride on little tractors, gem/fossil mine (extra), sand pit, swings, slide, animal feeding, tractor rides, cushion bounce. Many options and good fun. The addition of the bounce pad extends the age of kids that will enjoy. I wish there was more animal feeding. Can not take outside food into the area though but there picnic tables for any food you buy there.Cafe: Inside the shop does wonderful made on site spinach/cheese pastries, fruit strudels, cookies, sausage rolls. The Cafe outside does more traditional fayre : pizza, hotdog, fries... I personally head into the shop and bring something home made and yummy from there. Washrooms: Be realistic. This is a farm and does not have plumbing...there are chemical (drop) toilets and areas to wash your hands. Parking: lots of free parking

Although a very commercialized farm setting, it will give urbanites a sense of what farming is about. The food is good and its a great place to visit around Thanks Giving and Halloween to pick out a pumpkin and fresh produce. Enjoy

Great for families, young and old. Fun activities especially summer and fall. Thanksgiving wouldn't be the same without a visit to the pumpkin patch

The farm is a good size, and has all of the typical farm stuff. The playground, the animals, the corn maze, the pumpkin cannon, the tractor ride, the sand pit, the animatronic chickens, and of course pick your own stuff. They also have a mining setup where you can sift for gold in the back of the farm that my son was a little young for but looked interesting.I thought that the pricing was fine, and very much in line with similar farms. There is also a 2 for 1 coupon available online that you can print. The jar of pickles that I bought was actually cheaper than they sell them for at another farm that I've been to several times north of the city so no complaints. Having said that, if you are shopping for a good price on pumpkins (the season that I went) then you are in the wrong place, but this is common to any of this sort of attraction that I've seen. You don't go to this sort of farm for cheap produce. My only complaint really was that there weren't many animals out. That may have been the time of year, or the fact that it was a bit rainy, but I would have liked to have seen more than just a cow and a goat.At any rate, my son had a great time despite the weather, and that's the real measure of this type of place.

Nice farm with lots of fresh picking for the whole family, from veggies to berries. Really nice kids fun area. However, in the last few years it's become very expensive. Even the pick your own berries or veggies are expensive. I picked strawberries this year and it would have been cheaper to buy them from the supermarket. Be prepared to pay quite a bit for the kids fun farm and any foods or snacks that you buy for them. The farm market is premium priced as well. Sort of defeats the purpose of buying directly from the farm. Also the pumpkins must be made out of gold... be prepared to fork out lots of $$$ for a pumpkin. I used to come here several times a year but now I'm going to find another pick-your-own location because of the prices.

If you want to make a day of it, have young kids and can make full use of the facilities then go at it. The only thing that seemed free was parking. It's relative closeness to Toronto gives city folks the feel like they are going to a real farm. However, I prefer a nice drive north to real (less commercialized) farms where there is plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, jams and pies. And when it comes to pumpkins...Metro/Lablaws will have as good a selection without charging you by the pound.

We like to go to the kid area to play. It's very commercialized but still fun for kids. The price point is a little expensive.

Although it is a huge and beautiful far be prepared to part with a good chunk of your money. They charge for everything including the privilege of using their playground as well as an admissions fee which does not include your berries. You cannot bring in outside food to have a family picnic.

I have been going to Whittamore's to pick strawberries for years. Unfortunately, today I got caught in a thunderstorm and was only able to pick enough berries for one batch of jam. I am always impressed by the quality of the berries and the friendliness and organization of the staff. I was horrified by the bathroom today though. It is always bad (port-a-potties near the entrance/shop) but today was particularly disgusting. The level of waste was so high it is as if they had not been emptied since last year (or the year before)? It was absolutely revolting but I was stuck with no other options. I would suggest that these facilities should be cleaned and emptied much more often, especially as there are young families needing to use these very primitive toilets. I would think they could get a proper bathroom given the huge number of people who go to Whittamore's.

I've driven by this plenty of times and never went in, until that one day last month. We've been to plenty of farms around Ontario just for somewhere to take the young kids to (2 & 4), and when we went to Whittamore's i was really surprised at all the activities it has to offer.Granted, it is a bigger farm than most others in the west end that we frequent, so that means more walking for the little ones but the attractions are pretty cool. That one huge slide had my 4 year old going up and down so many times, and on his belly! The tractor area was a hit with my 2 year old. They both loved the sand area as well.Too bad there wasnt' that much to offer in terms of food and the washrooms were not the greatest but hey it's a farm not a 4-star restarurant, i get that.I would come back here probably once a year (we do live about an hour away).

Myself and 8 of my twenty-something year old friends spent the morning at Whittamore's Farm on the perfect summer day. Honestly, it was an absolute amazing time. It took us back to our childhood and made us realize, you're never too old for a field trip! You absolutely must see the Amazing Singing Chicken Show every half-hour. We learned that the chicken is the only living relative of the T-Rex. I betcha didn't know that! And on it's off times it has a "Poke for a Joke" feature which rivaled some of the stand-up comedians I've seen over the years. It's really the perfect family destination, especially for young kids but don't hesitate to check it out if you're a kid-at-heart!

There's plenty to do, and some of it's pretty cool, and to their credit, they continue to build onto the place, with the next addition (some kind of pillow jumping thing if I remember correctly) being ready at the end of the month. There are animals, an animal area, singing chicken show, wagon rides (three times a day), slides, play areas and activities spread around the property. The property is surrounded by berry fields where you can pick your own and they sell plenty of produce, treats and floral baskets on-site. I have three kids between 7 and 10 and they all had a good time, but you probably wouldn't kill more than a few hours on an average visit. The one big issue is the price. It's $8 per person, regardless of age. There's no economy of scale for visitors. I'm bringing five people and it ends up costing $50.

We came here to see what they offer. There was some produce (granted, it's early in the season for a lot of locally grown), not cheap/special/organic. Toys and candy for purchase. Sugary areas are easy to identify by kids having tantrums in front of them (I'm absolutely a kid person, just can't stand parents who just "parent" through buying things to appease, but I'm sure there a whole other website for that). The jams are expensive, as are the typical, touristy overpriced maple syrups that you can find cheaper at the grocery store. The only thing that looked different was their (possibly made there?) tarts. We didn't try them, but would have another time. We wandered over to see the play area, but it costs money to go in, and since we didn't have any little ones with us, it would have been 1. not worth it to pay money just to see what they offer and 2. creepy. Lots of parking. Portable outhouse toilets (only saw 2, not enough for a busy day). For a real (not overpriced) farm, save your money and go to Andrew's Scenic Acres (near Milton), that is in the country, has lots of pick your own, jams that are made there, a FREE animal petting area, FREE playground, pick your own flowers and less of a business feel to it.
