st. marys museum

If you like community museums, I think you will love this one. It is based in a historic house a pleasant walk from the downtown Queen Street area of St. Marys. The residential area and park surrounding it make a delightful setting. As you move through the rooms you find out what it was like to live in St. Marys during the great Victorian limestone quarrying era.I especially appreciated the new archives building attached to the museum/house. While modern in design, the form and materials are very appropriate compliment to the museum/house. If you enjoy interesting architecture this addition is a must-see. I understand it was designed by Terry Marklevitz, a Stratford architect who is the recipient of the gold medal of the Royal Architectural Society of Canada.
