Wasn't really expecting a lot but I was wrong. Very very interesting and informative, thanks to our guide Veronique. Found out that a 24k gold bar weighs a lot more than I could handle!

We went to the mint in the spring. To just go to the "store",there is no charge. To take the tour there was a small fee. The tour included historical coins, "plates and presses" and other equipment. They include a tour of current manufacturing facilities of regular coins and special coloured coins. There are various sketches of coin designs displayed with they matching coins. The store sells coins, souveniers at all price points and allows you to hold a 25lb solid gold bar. Very interesting visit

Visit it Thursday evening for a no fees visit. Great tour to see how coins are minted, and learn a little about the great Canadian Coins.

Lots and lots of money! Going to the mint will make anyone see a variety of colours as we see money being printed, coins being made and a large selection of limited edition or coins and bills no longer in circulation(anyone remember the bills before the loonie and toonie?) Also a great place for collectors as many items are for sale and if not in stock many can be special ordered. An interesting way to show kids a key part of the economy and how 'old money' is recycled.

The Royal Canadian Mint was very interesting. We had a tour of the building and the production process of the coins and medals. We learned about lots of stuff on Canada's collectible and investment coins produced in Ottawa. Very enjoyable experience overall.

Learn a few random facts and get to see some of the machines they use to make coins and metals, but otherwise kind of dull. If you're into coins you'll appreciate this more than others. Coolest part was seeing the Olympic medals from 2010 up close.

We never get tired of visiting the mint and seeing how money is made. The highlight for us is getting photographed with that huge gold bar in the gift shop.

This is an amazing attraction. Takes about an hour to get through. So informative. I had no idea of what went on here, I thought it just made Canadian coin, not the case.

The best part was a seeing a solid gold bar. Over all good for me but the kids found it boring. Probably not the best place for very young kids.

We visited the Royal Canadian Mint recently and was very impressed. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a really good tour of the building. Unfortunately there were no gold bar present that day. But we enjoyed the visit nonetheless. The building itself is very beautiful.

This is a great tour to take if you are a coin collector or are interested in how coins are minted. It was fun that the tour ends in the gift shop, with the opportunity to hold a gold bar (chained to a podium under watch of a guard). I am glad that we had the opportunity to do this while we were on our visit to Ottawa.

Our visit to the Mint was impressive. The guide was very knowledgeable, entertaining and pleasant. She interacted with the group and we learned a lot. We got to hold a 28 pound gold barand take photos with it. Of course there was a guard watching us and it was chained on. Lots of nice gifts in the shop. There is a cloakroom for your coats.

The building is beautiful. Reminds you of a castle. The tour was interesting. Very educational. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
