Salt Soring Island Saturday market in Ganges what can I say! A really amazing market with so much to see and buy. Beautifully laid out by the harbour on the green with wonderful stalls selling a huge range of handcrafted goodies. Beautiful bracelets made from genuine stones fro Bell & Bede - I bought loads for presents; t'shirts; scarves; organic clothes; artworks as well as organic fruits and vegetables and flowers. The cheese stall with wonderful goats cheeses, really pretty presentation with wonderful flavours. Amazing Kale chips absolutely delicious. Lots to see, do and taste. Musicians and dancers on the green with people joining in. A wonderful atmosphere

From the food to the handicrafts, a day spent at this farmers market is unforgettable. Delicious organic produce, handcrafted cheeses, homemade Kombucha! Handwoven wool hats and organic clothing..... a real luxurious farmers market. There was even a guy walking around giving mini psychedelic "healing", he created a sort of kaleidoscope.... hard to explain but so enjoyable! <3 i will return.

Great market! One of the best I've seen. But, arrived on gay pride day so was really overcrowded with parade goers...could hardly move, no where to park, and kinda dangerous walking kids along the road to get there - no sidewalks until right into town.

What a cool market this town puts on. Excellent selection of hand made items and tasty treats. Very impressed by some if the local cheese makers as well as fresh produce. Beautiful jewelry, pottery, artwork and woodwork to be found. Lots to see and do plus they had a live band that had the crowd dancing. Right by the water and we noticed a cool little pub right at the end of the market (the Local?) which had a great selection of beer and wine. Next door we found a place that served Shawarma Poutine which blew our minds - it was so good. The market has it all and highly recommend it to anyone visiting this funky little island.

Travel by ferry from Victoria and not Vancouver. Much more frequent. Once you arrive, there is a bus to take you to Ganges (yes, this is what they call their downtown). If you miss the bus, they may call a new one or you may have to hitch a ride to or from the downtown. Hitch hiking is acceptable practice and turned out to be fun! Come on a Saturday for the market. Eclectic and full of good food and crafts. You see many laid back lifestyles. If rainy, hard to get around or enjoy the island. Come here on a sunny day.

The ferry is the first hurdle as Sat. market a VERY popular place and for good reason. We had a one ferry wait despite the fact we were 45 minutes early for the ferry from Vancouver Island. The market is busy, choices for food, jewellery, crafts, etc etc excellent. There is also a fenced off area where the SPCA will keep your dog in the shade. It is far too hot to leave fido in your car so consider leaving this family member at home. Great shops on the street away from market area as well. Just know that the town closes down early after the market.

Our group of four stayed on Salt Spring Island on Friday night and woke up to go to this market. It is a huge, wonderful, amazing, eclectic, and fun market! You must do this if you visit this island. There were crafts, foods, and other good sold from the island inhabitants. Highly recommended.

Have been coming to this market for last four years. Lots of local produce- love the cheeses and sprouts. Crafts are good, although somewhat expensive. Getting rather crowded later in the morning, but this is a sign if success.

Wow, has this market ever grown in size and popularity over the years! I last went a year or two ago, is right in the heart of Ganges with many, many vendors offering everything from food to art to jewelry to clothing...everything and anything a market of these times has to offer. There being so many talented artisans on the island, there is a plethora of items to choose from. And, if a person like me who tends to have an aversion to crowds gets a bit overwhelmed, all one has to do is step out of the fray to enjoy the park right there on the waterfront, and the neighboring shops etc. If you don't mind crowds, you will enjoy this event held I believe every Saturday in the summer.

We visited the market and it wasn't as big as some I've seen, but lovely with a truly local character... plenty of local food artisans and artists. We bought a few simple things for the day and enjoyed live music in the adjacent park. Strolling thru, tasting, and talking, it took us maybe 2 to 3 hours, so isn't that big (or at least not in early June), but worthwhile. We came from Amazing View B & B which was a lovely place to stay on the island. If you come for the market, staying overnight is plenty, but if you want to enjoy touring around or some bodycare treatments, stay two.

Such a great market! There's so much to see, with such a variety in between arts and crafts, to food, to chocolates to coffee! Don't have breakfast in the morning and just come! Eat your way through the market, making sure to have some of the French pastries, served by the French Baker herself!! There's also some really beautiful jewelry artisans, so it feels like you really can shop for everything here - Christmas gifts, breakfast and lunch, and fresh veggies for dinner! This place is packed so make sure to come early to find close parking! Definitely not to be missed!

A wonderful way to spend the day. Visit with the locals and get a good taste of the culture of Salt Spring Island. We bought cheese, dips, jewelry, artwork, photographs, and a BBQ'ed natural smokie with organic banana bread for dessert! Yum! Lots of entertainers; from violin, rock and drums to singing and guitar. Fun to just sit and take it all in. Definitely worth a visit! Parking is limited, best to figure in a 5 minute walk and park away from the crowds. Gets busier as the day wears on. Bathrooms on site. Right beside the ocean.
