This was a fun filled attraction. Upper level is full of interactive, educational exhibits. Lower level boasts a sizeable collection of local fish. There is a trout pond for fishing during the summer months.

I love this place, you can learn about fish, aquaculture and the environment here! Have a Braai, take a walk by the Bow river as well.

What a great little park area and educational facility. Hidden away in a beautiful curve of the Bow, lots of walking/biking trails near. A fishing hole for the kids, and the hatchery itself is a really interesting facility

This is a nice museum tucked away in a quiet park close to downtown. Top floor provides an exhibit of the environment, main floor leads you to the fish hatchery allowing you to feed the trouts that are bred for stocking ponds across Alberta, and the bottom floor has a couple of aquariums showcasing all the cool fish species in Alberta. The Kids can catch pond outside provides a nice easily accessible area for kids and adults to try out fishing - you can rent fishing rods within the building as well.Great place to spend a half day or longer!

The Fish hatchery is a not well known attraction in Calgary but has lots of fun things to do for kids. We fed fish ( which my 8 year old loved ) , It has aquariums with all the native Alberta fish. Also has an interactive area with a video floor as well as interactive displays of the native Alberta animals. We went in winter so the outdoor ponds and picnic area were not open but still a great time , definitely will go back again and again.

Excellent attraction to visit for an afternoon, 8yr old loved feeding fish and checking out the aquariums and displays , very nicely taken care of , not too busy , a really nice way to spend a couple of hours and learn about fish , other animals and environment native to Alberta. Will definitely go back again especially in summer then can experience the outdoor ponds.

For our anniversary this year my husband and I took in the Fish Hatchery. It was really cool, we even got to go on a tour of the tanks that hold all the different ages of fish. We were supplied with bowls of fish food and got to experience a really awesome sight. The fish had a mob mentality when the food was dropped into their tanks and we saw first hand what a "feeding frenzy" really was! It was a little pricier than I expected, but the a great way to learn about the local ecosystem in a hands-on manner.

Easy access from Deerfoot Trail. Lots of free parking. The nearby park is quite nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Costs are very reasonable. Upstairs - There are lots to see and do, many different displays and interactive tools that are fun for kids to enjoy. Downstairs - A good collection of Alberta fish to view and a wall of models with the name of the fish and a display with the insides of a fish and the names. The tanks are very clean and well maintained. At some angles, you don't even realize that there's glass. Steps and benches allow for easy viewing for kids. The tour - Is very well done. Very informative and lots for the kids to look at and don't get bored as you walk through the different stages. The highlight of the tour is when you feed the fish. With thousands of hungry fish, it turns into an exciting feeding frenzy. The Pond - There is a nice pond outside with fish. You can fish for free (if you bring your own rod) or you can rent a rod for $5. This is designed for kids enjoyment and education for 'catch and release'.

It's hidden in the corner of the city so some people don't know about it. Great and very informative for kids but there isn't really much there to do for adults. You have to pay for the centre and the aquarium but the fishing pond is free (you'll have to bring your own rods otherwise you can rent from the centre).

You could spend hours here if you wanted to. This is a very informative place for kids to learn and explore. There are hands on exhibits and computers available throughout. We went as a family and all 3 kids (8 Years,6 Years & 4 Years) found different things they loved about the place. We did the fish hatchery tour and our guide was great. He kept it interesting and interactive for the kids. Next time we go we will have to try the fishing part. There is a playground and BBQ pits outside if you wanted to hang around after too.

Born and raised in Calgary and the area. Came back 20 years later and wow, I took my 2 kids for the tour, fishing and more! They loved it and my 5 year old daughter is asking everyday to go fishing. Staff is awesome, prices are not step and overall it is a pretty cool place. We'll be going again and again and again. Take a lunch because there's benches near by as well as a park. ! Have fun

We really liked looking at and playing with the exhibits. It was interesting to see all the different types of fish you can find around Alberta and the tour of the hatchery is a definite must if you are going here. We decided to let the kids try fishing in the trout pond, but I wouldn't recommend it. The fish are obviously well fed as you could watch them swimming around avoiding your hook, it really wasn't worth the extra $5 even for the experience.

I went there yesterday Aug 13th and it was terrific. They are very well organized and they is too much to do. Once your bored inside you can easily step outside and go for walk. It was amazing. If you want know about fish, this is a place to be. Enjoy it. They is also picnic tables outside which is great addition.

Had a chance to visit here during a recent trip to Calgary. Was attending a birthday party for a 5 year old boy. What an interesting facility! Not only were the staff knowledgeable and friendly, but they treated us as if they were truly excited that we were interested in visiting. They were enthusiastic and sincere. The children had a great time doing a fish scavenger hunt, spending time watching the fish swim in the aquariums, and doing a "fish-y" craft. The absolute highlight for all of us was a chance to feed the fish. Great family adventure with a decent price point. Super opportunity to learn in a fun environment
