this place is one of the best and most popular things to do on a Saturday it's like a honey bee hive so much to see and do...the crafts people have made and things that are on sale are amazing

We visited this market 20 years ago and it was still as good as we remembered & even better. Although we didn't eat any food it all looked yum. We loved all the different kinds of art work & couldn't resist a few bits & pieces to put in the suitcase. Stall holders really friendly & happy to chat even if you didn't buy. We stopped half way through for an excellent coffee at a very nice small coffee shop on the edge of square. I hope it's not another 20years before we return as its well worth a browse around.

Wonderful little market. We had a delicious lunch of sandwich wraps and dumplings -- it was hard to choose from the several appealing choices -- and fresh fruit ice cream. For breakfast, a dinner, and hiking snacks, we bought homemade muesli, bread, mozzarella, berries, fruit, and local vegetables.

Seriously, the stall with the stuffed Maori fried bread is fantastic. The woman there is friendly and the food is delicious. I'm craving it right now. I tried the most popular one, with pesto cream cheese and other fresh ingredients and I was in heaven. I could eat one every day. When enough time passed (2 hours) I went back and tried the smoked salmon one - also amazing. Some people were getting the plain one and putting their own spread on, like jam, honey, etc., but please don't pass up a stuffed version. I would go back to Nelson for this stall alone. I browsed the rest of the market but mainly I was just daydreaming about when I could get my 2nd fried bread without looking greedy.

Some excellent produce and certainly very different to that offered in shops - a chance for variety. A gathering of creative people would be a good description with an eclectic choice of goods on offer. Not like some markets you could visit on holiday. Friendly, helpful stall holders all only too happy to talk about their products. Lovely

The shear variety of goods on offer here is astounding. Fresh fruit and veggies, wonderful salami, breads and tons of articles of clothing, jewellery, artwork…….you can even commission a piece of knitted goods from a picture……..Marvellous outing!

The market opens early - 8 am. They have produce, flowers, honeys and jams, candy, olive oils, bakery items (we had a lovely berry and cheese croissant), jewelery, clothes, knitting, hats, and art and crafts galore, with a few buskers thrown in. It was big and took us 2 hours to walk around leisurely. I'd recommend getting a coffee at one of the many cafes close by as there were only 3 choices of coffee in the market and the lines were longest for coffees. We highly recommend this market.

The Nelson market is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Lots of crafts and organic veggies/fruit - plenty to eat as you wander around. Highly recommend the dumplings and whitebait fritters.

Great food, interesting products, quality crafts, friendly people. In brief that sums up this place. We planned our trip to hit Nelson on Saturday to see the market, and glad we did. If you have a campervan this is a great place to re-stock. We will always remember this market for introducing us to Misomite. Just need to figure out how to get this in the US. Only downside was the lack of prepared food for breakfast.

So nice to go to a market where the majority of things appeared to be locally made/grown/produced. Lots of quality art and jewellery, fruit and vegetables and good food stalls including caramel almonds, freshly made waffles, etc. Lovely atmosphere with plenty of buskers.

A lovely place to spend a few hours on a Saturday morning. There is an array of produce to temp all foodies and sampling is encouraged. Hand wars are also tempting with a great variety of woollen articles.

We went along to the Nelson Market on the saturday morning. They had a good variety of items for sale and it was nice to browse through the stalls. Unfortunately it was a cold day and the rain was setting in so this did not help. I would still suggest you go and have a look as there are some really nice goods for sale.

Frankly speaking, I had been here for several times. I came on every Saturday during my stay, this is a really nice place to visit in Nelson!I did not do much survey during my first visit to Nelson, and coincidentally I came on Saturday and this market catches my attention as it was so happening!! I love it here. There are singers and musicians playing instruments like violin, harps, etc. You may buy a coffee with breakfast and have a relaxing weekend breakfast with calm music. You can grab many different kinds of handicrafts, knitting garments, fruit jams & cheeses, coffee, delicious food & cheap vegetables & fruits!! You must pay a visit to the Saturday Market when you are in Nelson!
