Aquifer Tours can take you really close. The Blue Lake at Mount Gambier in the south-east of South Australia is a unique attraction. It was formed in the vent of a recent volcano. There is a gentle, downhill gradient to the pumping house. From there we were taken down in a glass paneled lift in the original dolomite well shaft, through a tunnel to see the Blue Lake at close proximity. The tour guide was so friendly and informative. Take the $9/person tour - and ask the guide to turn on the water cannon.
