If you are fit enough this is a spectacular walk from Pandeli and half way, by the first of the windmills, ids the new bar (Demitri). Quite a thrilling drive too. This is more about the trip to the top and the stunning views rather than the castle itself.

Not much to look at but hey, you can say you've been!! Some nicely stacked rocks a few lizards and a couple of goats! Come on! Its Greece!!

The castle has spectacular view of the island. It is also easy reachable by car so you don't need to walk in the heat! We loved the museum of the church were we were guided by a guy from Texas who apparently works in the island as an english teacher and on its free time is helping out to the museum in the castle!

One of the must see attractions of Leros. The byzantine castle of Leros or Panagia's castle overlooking Agia Marina, Platanos and Panteli offers amazing views especially at the sunset. The castle was build in the 11th century AD during the rein of the emperor Alexios Komninos of byzantium.

Die mittelalterliche Festung von Panagia ist ein High Light auf Leros und alleine schon wegen der unglaublichen Rundumsicht zu besichtigen. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen ist, das fast keine Absturzsicherung entlang der Mauern exisiieren. Es kann ohne weiteres passierne dass man sich plötzlich vor einem Abgrund (30m Freiflug garantiert) steht. Hier sollte dringend nachgebessert werden. Aussicht phenomenal, Kirche schön hergerichtet. Eintritt 1€,

Die Burg wurde erst restauriert und ist unbedingt einen Besuch wert. Auch das kleine Museum ist interessant. Am besten hat mir die Kirche gefallen. Und die Aussicht ist auf jeden Fall die beste auf Leros.

Diciamo che in sè il castello non è niente di particolare, però ci si arriva tranquillamente con i mezzi e da lì si gode uno splendido panorama sull'isola: è come vederne la mappa. Per cui vale sicuramente la gita. Attenti che è aperto tutte le mattine ma solo due pomeriggi (se non ricordo male, ma non ricordo quali).
