This impressive old tower is in the centre of Aachen, attached to the Rathaus. As such, it complements the whole sense of history which surrounds the area. Because of the close proximity of other buildings it is actually quite difficult to get a good photograph of the tower.

This is the oldest building in Aachen, built in 788, and it dates from the time of Charlemagne. Later it became part of the town hall and the tower is raised slightly. However, the tower still shows its age. It is located directly at one of the shopping Streets.
