This old steel mill has been converted to an open park. Ore silos were converted to a high class rock climbing facility. The main furnace (and other buildings) are open to visitors, and provide an amazing vista from ~80m high. At night, the park is lit whith decorative colored lighting and is quite a sight. On the downside, the old steel buildings seem to attract vandals, so I'm not sure I't would be a good idea to stay after dark. The locals don't seem to mind though.

We took part in a guided tour through the old steelworks for just under two hours. The guide did an excellent job and explained all the different parts in detail. Exciting stuff! We couldn't climb on top of the blast furnace because of the icy conditions but never mind. The area is huge and I'm sure it'd be lovely to spend half a day there in summer. Lots of things to do for children too.

A great example of how to utilise disused industrial site into a great family attraction. There is heaps of history along with activities for everyone including an outdoor theatre, restaurant, playground equipment, backpacker accommodation along with motorhome camping areas.

You are not prepared for the sheer size of the place. The total area covered is huge. Climbing up some of the structures is an amazing experience. Well worth the visit.

The Ruhr has done a great job turning its old coal and mining factories into parks for the people. This park is a good example of that. There are acres of park to wonder, art exhibits, night illuminations, and candle light tours to take part in.Another great place for photographers.

What to do when old heavy ?Turn it into an ecopark. Acres of semi natural habitat covering the steelworks site with the remains of the buildings incorporated into a heritage trail (signs are mostly in German only though). A very peaceful and relaxing way to spend a few hours. No entry fee either so you can go again and again.

phantastic light Illumination, unique in Germany, maybe in the world, a Location with deep impressions for the visitors

This park is impressive, especially for industrial heritage aficionados. It is a pleasant facility, but do not go when it is raining. The stairs are dangerous when wet. Do not forget to eat at the restaurant at the park. Good food. Good price. Great staff.

We went to Landschaftspark for a day to try the klettersteig route. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was better than expected ;-) The klettersteig was easy to find in the park and really fun to do(and quite challenging for us, we're not very experienced). It took us about 2,5 hours to complete it. When we were finished we enjoyed some snacks at a very reasonable price. When the weather gets a bit nicer we are definetly going again!

I just thought it was very fascinating! I come from Italy where is all about historical ruins and here in Ruhrgebiet everything is different but extremely interesting! I invite everybody to feel the charme of this area! I love Landschaftpark Nord in Duisburg

an outstanding place to learn about the production of iron and also the hard working conditions. Embedded in a wonderful landscape the Landschaftspark is open everyday and you can visit it for free. They offer guided tours which are not for free, but you can explore the Park on your own. Don`t forget to walk up the stairs upon Hochofen 5 to have an impressive overview on the area. At the weekend there is a special illumination from dawn till 2:00 am. Pics and further information (also in English) on the homepage.

An old steel plant converted into a park...A nice idea, but if you are not interested to this sector you will get a bit bored.

Fantastic "park". Being able to walk around this abadoned factory was very interesting. Especially for photographers. Coming here around sunset will see the park turn on the lights and illuminate many of the furnaces and towers.

Went here as part of an evening business outing and although I had reservations about visiting an iron works before I got there, I was completely won over by the transformation of the site. Completely wowed by what's been done here and would love to go again in the daylight.
