I wandered in here today, partly because I had the Bonn Regio Welcome Card (so it was free) and partly because I had to go the bathroom and partly because I wanted to visit ONE of the museums on the Museum Mile and didn't want to pay the extra to go into the Art Museum next door. All that said, I am very glad I did stop by! They only had one open exhibit, on African Mask-Artists, though one on Space was in preparation and looked interesting.I was not expecting the superb display inside after having wandered through the mono-lingo Landesmuseum earlier today. The entire exhibit was very well done, with every sign in three languages (German, English, and French), with informative and interesting signs on each section and then individual signs with each piece. The multimedia in one room included videos on how various art pieces are produced, from masks, to gold-plated objects, to pottery. They are clear about their intentions with the exhibit and fulfill them admirably. I was very happy and ended up spending over an hour wandering through. One of the gallery guides even came over at one point when she saw me staring confusedly at a piece and pointed out its various features, which was a very nice and fun discussion. It was a good-sized exhibit space and well filled. There were only a handful of other people in there at the time (late afternoon) and I enjoyed wandering through at my own pace. At the end, there was a woman with questionnaires, offering a free drink if I'd fill it out. I did so happily, and think that gathering feedback is a great idea.

The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany is well-known for its excellent varied programme of exhibitions, i.e. the current one "African Masters - Art from the Ivory Coast".It is a forum for Art and Communication, international and cosmopolitan. The architecture is great:3 iconic cones, designed by the Viennese architect Gustav Peichl. Visiting Bonn you should not miss it.

It is difficult to review a Museum that only has temporal exhibitions. I went to the Florenz and Villa Romana exhibition. It was very good, with paintures and objects are originally from Florence but they are currently exhibit in some of the major Art Museums in the world including the Ufizzi Gallery. This was the last week, though, so next time you will probably see other exhibition (I think is AvantGarde Russia), in any case, the exhibition space was very good and the food at the restaurant was excellent at very good prices! I had tafelspitz with mustard sauce and as a dessert Kaiserschmarrn!!!

We go almost every year to one of the very nice exhibitions in Bonn. this time it was better because the text was not only in German, but also in English. if the catalogue had been availab le in English I would have bought it, but although we can read German, it's not always that easy, so the 39€ was a bit steep.

From ancient Egypt to Hollywood the exhibit explores the legend of Cleopatra with hieroglyphics, artist impressions, theater, music, and garden flowers. Somehow it all works to make for a wonderful experience at the museum. The garden on the roof top is lovely with lots of fragrance.

The staff at the Kunstmuseum suggested to also visit the Cleopatra exhibition next door in the Kunsthalle, so we did. But after the intellectually challenging journey trough the history of 20th century German art in the former, the latter proved to be a lightweight. The exhibition consisted out of a thematic collection of several items and pictures centering around the Egyptian queen, more or less divided in historic periods and mediums used (sculpture, tapestry, painting, advertisement, film, etc). What we did find interesting was the presented evolution of Cleopatra's image through the centuries and the shifting emphases on different elements of her legacy and the mythical sphere which grew around her person, but otherwise there was little to be learned and the exhibition slightly missed serious content or a deeper thought. Information stands in both German and English. No photographs allowed inside.

Great location which usually has excellent shows. The exhibition about the Irokese Indians however, though interesting, lacks somewhat in the experience quality. The topic no doubt is attractive for children, unfortunately the way the items are displayed relies heavily on written text for context. The long house is the exception and, especially when the weather is warm, offers a very palpable experience of life in a natural environment, full of smells and textures.

Went to the Kunsthalle to see the exhibition " Treasures of the World's Cultures" from the British Museum. It consists of more than 250 of the finest objects from the British Museum, selected to give an overview of two million years (!!) of world culture and history. The exhibits, which range from Olduvai gorge stone tools to modern art from almost yesterday are divided six geographic areas and a seventh called the Modern World. Although the size of the exhibition is not overwhelming, each object is significant in some way so I highly recommend hiring the audio guide. I used the English one and found it very informative and accessible. it will enhance your enjoyment greatly. As unique objects go, the Khipu (or quipu) from Peru sticks to mind. This is a woven recoding device consisting of a series of knotted cords used by the Inca who did not have writing. There are very few of these in existence. The exhibition runs until the 7th of April, 2013.

Very nice relax and cult atmosphere on a sunday morning. Interesting exhibition on Warhol and his peers....Menage a Trois...A litle bit expensive like all museums in Germany but worth to come back. Interesting Museum Mile offer in Bonn. Definitively a good option in NRW.

An outstanding exhibition of a fascinating subject. Very well curated and of a nice size, this was one of the best African shows I have ever seen anywhere.

Wirklich sehenswerte Ausstellung.
