We happened upon this museum during a tour of Regensburg on our recent Danube cruise. We were a bit skeptical in that it was down a flight of steps from a street level shop, but it proved to be a quite pleasant surprise. We were given a tour by the creator of the museum which took about 15 minutes, and then he left us to explore on our own. The museum is not yet complete, but the displays were extensive and, to someone interested in the history of the game, very interesting.

To come across a Golfmuseum in a narrow medieval street was certainly a surprise .The museum is in the basement of a shop run by the collectors wife and is still in the process of completion.He has amassed a great number of exhibits from all over the world including a proto golf game played in the Netherlands ,lots of old clubs balls posters trophies competion start times etc,It needs order and to tell more of a story ,but this I hope is planned when the work is complete.

It was a positive surprise to find such high quality golf museum, here in the middle of Germany in Regensburg! Great exhibition and intresting collection of 100+ year old golf history related items.

The Old Golf Equipments Available Presents a Good Demonstration of the Early Game as We'll as Other Early Golf Like Sports. I Will be Waiting for the Publication of the Golf History Book.

I don't appreciate the finer points of golf but I found this museum fascinating from an historical point of view.My husband is a golf tragic & I suspect he knew of this museums existence before we "happened upon it". This museum is a little off the beaten track,it has a sign outside but is situated down a spiral staircase, below a furniture store.The museum is very well set out & concentrates on the history of the game rather than on players of the game. There are very comprehensive displays of golf attire, equipment, trophies & general golf memorabilia. It's by no means an amateurish display & for just 5 Euro it represents excellent value for money.Unfortunately, the owner wasn't around when we visited, it would have been interesting to have heard his story.

Very nice location where the owner gives you a guided tour and explains the objects in detail. Not just for golf enthusiasts, but also for people interested in history. Would definitely recommend while visiting Regensburg!

Not a great golf fan, but this was amazing. Extremely informative the owner give a nice presentation that is extremely informative. Definitely open my eyes to the history of golf. I can only imagine what a fan or golf player would find here. 100% recommended.

The owner is a golf historian that is very knowledgeable of the history and origins and was willing to explain it to us personally. There is a large variety of different items in this collection, some dating back to the 1100's. Definitely a worth while tour, especially for golf enthusiasts and it only costs 5€. I would recommend stopping in while visiting Regensburg.

If anything, it is more of a collection of golf material as antique as can be. The owner seems to be a golf historian and is writing a book for publication about the origins of golf (not the version that says Scotland but somewhere else and from way further back in time). We missed the owner but we were graciously accommodated by his charming daughter. Situated just across the cathedral along a narrow street that one can easily pass it by without noticing it.

Stumbled across this museum while walking through the little alleyways of regensburg. For 5€ the owner gave us an in depth history into his work and the beginnings of the game of golf. Very interesting and very surprised to find such a place in this town, but fitting as well. A must see for golfers.

During our riverboat trip down the Danube in November we were pleasantly surprised to find this museum. Even more surprised and happy to find out women have played an active part in the history of the game. It isn't just the old golf clubs and balls but the bags, clothing, shoes, posters and other accessories on display. We enjoyed an interesting tour by the owner and look forward to his book when it is published. This place was an unexpected find. Don't miss it!

Great museum full of treasures, owner was enthusiastic and eager to share his knowledge. Even for non-golfers, this museum had lots to see: photos, videos, antique golf clubs and golf balls and amazing history about the way the game started and evolved.

A wonderfully informative owner who took great pride in showing us around a very iinteresting boutique museum. Also Interesting to find out golf was played so much earlier in Europe than previously thought. Believe some of the exhibits should be 'loaned' to St Andrews

In June, while on a river cruise, we toured Regensburg and visited the Golfmuseum. It is located on Tandlergasse, near the cathedral - it's in the basement of a furniture store. What an amazing collection of golf items! The owner has done some very interesting research; his enthusiasm for all things golf is very apparent and infectious. He has made excellent use of his space, and his sizable collection is attractively displayed. My husband is the golfer, but I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum. We will go again if we are ever fortunate enough to return to Regensburg, and I highly recommend this museum to anyone who enjoys collections and/or golf.

My golf-aholic husband and I spent an interesting afternoon touring the historical golf displays in the museum: old clubs, balls, medals, videos, etc. A walk through golfing history!! The owner was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about explaining the various rooms (and he speaks perfect English). We happily purchased an old golf print (of which they had many to choose from). The museum is definitely worth the time to visit.
