One of most delightful, romantic two-wheel rides in Oslo. Lush woods...

    Bygdoy Peninsula

The peninsula has lovely walks through the trees. I imagine it's very popular in the summer but we virtually had it to ourselves on a mid-week day in February.Worth visiting the museums on the peninsula too.

Lovely place to walk around with a mix of forrest and beach. The beach is really packed during the summer as its very accessible by bus from Oslo centre.

This peninsula hosts several very nice museums that happen to all be included on the Oslo Pass. We visited the Viking Ship museum, the Kontiki museum, the Maritime Museum and the Fram museum. All are worthwhile to visit and the Fram museum, especially has a lot of details of the expedition.

Went there in early Jan 2015 - some great views but really quite quiet and somewhat boring. Lots of ship musea, mostly worth spending 10mins in!

Went to this place by ferry from City Centre. Visited 1-2 museums but then again returned to the peninsula in cycle. This time took off roads and it was simply paradise!

This is truly a paradise for a tourist. Only a few kilometers from the center of Oslo you find nature, the folk museum, viking ships, the Kon-Tiki museum and much more. Take bus no 30 from Jernbanetorget or Oslo City Hall.

Loved the museum of the Vikingships. The Kon-Tiki museum was also great! The Norwegian folk museum has nice houses from all over Norway and also has a stave church.

This is a brilliant place to take a walk in the evening esp if there is a wonderful sunset. Some rather expensive but very posh restaurants here and great views

Bygdöy is a peninsula in Oslo South West. You can og there by Bus year around or by Ferry during summer season. Know for its Museums, from folklore to Vikingships, Kontiki, Maritime, Polar ships and Holocaust center a-o. Famous beaches, incl Norways best Cloth Optional, Forests, Villas, and the Royal Farm and summer Residence and a romantic royal Castle + marinas.By walking you can do it all in 2-4 hours, depending how long you will stay in charming cafes and restaurants.NW part is a Natural preservation area. Here you can find vegetation that only exists here.

Great place to visit especially in the summer.Very peaceful, quite place. In the summer you can swim, play volleyball, football or do other sportive activities or chill out under the trees which covers a very big area.Other than that there is a hidden beach for naked bathing. There are several museums to visit at the same area, must see.

The penisula is home to multiple museums and is situated in a nice forest. I would definitely advice going here when you're visiting Oslo! If you buy an Oslo pass you can travel there for free and visit the museums for free as well.

All musea are location near to each other. Enough parking space or easy to reach by the ferry. Could recommend the viking skip and Fram museum.

We visited Bygdoy peninsula twice (one time late autumn and the second in summer) during our countless visits in Oslo. The area is definitely a must see but as i'm a summer lover i enjoyed my visit better during the summer as we had the opportunity to walk for hours and explore the area. The views from there are magnificent and if you have a prof. photo camera bring big lense with you. Regarding the museums, my favorites were the Kon Tiki and the Viking museum however the museum's staff should be more punctual on opening times during winter months. We were waiting for the museum to open for at least 20 min!
