I spent all the day walking around in ljubljana in a very sunny saturday of august 2014. Wonderful view of the city from here and from the castle too. If you decide to visit the capital you must try this place.

A pleasant drive from the castle to the city and back, is nothing special but shorten the descent into the city quite and does not have to be thinking about parking because you have parking in front of the castle. Time of ride down or up is 5min and goes every 10min.

When I visited , the weather was not so great and could not get good views from the top, but I am sure if the weather's good, the views would have been fantastic. Worth the trip tough.

We really had luck and catch sunny days in Ljubljana even in January so we really loved view, first from Funicular and mostly from Ljubljana Castle tower.

Ride up, walk down or be lazy and take a return. The easy way to reach the castle and get a great view - best on cloudless day - you can see over the Alps.

Interesting place to visit not only for adults but for kids also. Castle at the top is great. Nice walk back, too.

Fun for kids to take the funicular up the hill. The views are breathtaking and you feel like on top of the world when you climb up the castle tower. In the old castle chapel you can get your name written in old 16th century style which out kids loved.

Gives a wonderful view as you go up to the castle. Not cheap but well worth it even though its quite short. Staff is efficient and well trained. Modern glass elevator- must do esp. if its clear.

This may seem like an overpriced venture, but after the bustle of the market and strolling around downtown (or biking!) it's totally worth it to take the funicular 1) to say it aloud to yourself and 2) for the views. The castle up top has a lot of interesting history but the views are the real gem.

Smooth ride up. The ride up in the funicular doesn't include entrance to the castle. Signposts to show how to buy tickets would be nice when you get to the top.

parking is impossible. go with this! I was actually permitted to park in the reserved, but the rest of the party liked this

Good view of the town and surrounds as we went up in daylight and down to see the lights in the evening.

The Ljubljana Castle Funicular is great for taking photos of the city.In a few minutes the funicular gets you to the castle, but you have lots of time to use your camera.Try taking it when the weather is sunny and clear, just like when we were there.
