Favourite walk with my spaniel. The memorial is an oasis of quiet reflection. The climb up to Witch Craig is rewarded with a panoramic view to the north, with Ben Vorlich and the Ochils laid out before you.

A quite, tranquil place to go to remember the sacrifice of others and to show our respect and gratitude.

But why is it in the middle of nowhere? No signposts, nothing. You either have to be local or really looking for it to know it is there or to find it.

This is a very interesting memorial near Beecraigs Country Park. Limited parking outside the site. Tarmac footpaths throughout the site. If you feel a bit more adventurous the walk up the narrow path at the back of the site is worth it. You are rewarded with excellent views looking across the Bathgate Hills and the Firth of Forth.

This memorial just out side Linlithgow is difficult to get to if you don't have a car, however well worth the effort. A beautiful wooden and slate structure set in wonderful green hills with special trees carefully planted. A thoughtful and peaceful national monument, worthy of greater publicity.
