whilst staying in a hotel very close by Nhow hotel we came across this place whilst walking around the water front, its an old ware house from the docks used now to house independent food en drink makers/producers, its a very casual place so pets and children welkom to wander about whilst you sit by basic wooden tables and benches trying foods and drinks which can also be bought to take home with you,

When on Sunday afternoon. Had a great time, trying a couple of beers from the micro brewery & a cheese board to accompany them. A relaxed environment. My friends brought there kids, there is a small play area, to keep them occupied & plenty of other kids. I would really recommend this place.

...or maybe more like Brooklyn. The Fenix Food Factory is a great, relaxed place to come and sample artisanal, local food and drink (including bread from Jordy's bakery, wonderful local cheese, the Kaapse Brouwerij for microbrews, Cider Cider for...you guessed it, and for those with meaty desires, a really wonderful butcher). Put this together in a warehouse with, outside, some mobile food trucks that include great vegan Korean food, often stone oven pizza from Groos, and other choices, and you have a super-informal and enjoyably 'wild' space to hang out for an hour or five!. Don't miss the chance to sit outside and catch the riverside action that is so Rotterdam. And don't forget that the best Thai restaurant in Rotterdam, DeliBird, is just across the Deliplein from the Fenix Food Factory, as are a number of other good restaurants and bars. The SS Rotterdam is also within walking distance, if you've got decent shoes and about 25 minutes...

This an old harbour store. Open space with old furniture which creates a authentic atmosphere. Brunch plate on Sunday early afternoon is a recommendation. Pay the fee, get the plate and go by every stall to get the ingredients: cheese, meat, fruits, milk, coffee and even cider and a home brewed beer.

An old factory turned into a organic market and a place where u can buy and eat local cheese, ham and amazing bread. Very nice furniture in the middle of the open space where u can chill and have food and drinks. I recommend the organic teas and the cheese, not a big fan of the dutch pancakes (too buttery and cheesy for my taste).

Went to get breakfast at the Fenix Food Factory. Fun! You buy a wooden tray for 10Euros and then go pick up your bread, cheese, juice, coffee at the vendors in the Fenix Food Factory. Great atmosphere, great vendors. Coffee not so good and a bit dissapointing that the vendors make you wait while they serve the regular customers. Makes you feel a bit lost and silly standing there with your wooden tray.

I did not know it existed for a long time because it is located in what looks like an abandoned warehouse. It's nice to sit when it is warm but on cold or wet days I would avoid it. I was eventually taken there by a friend of mine for brunch and it was quite interesting. There are a few rotating food stalls (like i tried Korean sushi but it was not there the following week). They have a very nice coffee stand (permanent) but oh goodness does it take LONG to get the coffee (you have been warned). But the highlight for me was Jordy's bakery - they have a pistachio, ginger and white chocolate cookie. IT. IS. DIVINE. I am addicted to that cookie and I go back every weekend to buy it. You must hurry and try it!!

Today i visited the Fenix Food Factory with a dear friend from the US. He was astonished by the awesome combination of pure food and the environment enjoying sandwiches from jordy's bakery (roastbeef with trufflemayonaise), beers from the Kaapse Brouwers and later on beautiful fries with trufflemayonaise from the shop next to the kaapse brouwers. We sat outside enjoying a warm november day and life was just perfect.

Real food made by real people, I love this place! Try the Sunday brunch platter, grab some cider to take home, enjoy a glass of artisan beer, stock up on sourdough bread, have a coffee whilst waiting for friends, try some new cheeses, wait for them to fire up the pizza oven, sit inside in comfy armchairs or outside in the sunshine...the choice is yours! The knowledgeable guys and girls who work here are always coming up with new ideas to ring the changes and I hear that they can organize group visits, dinners, workshops etc.

The Fenix Food Factory is full of artisan heavenly stuff, the Kaapse Brouwers brew great beer, you can enjoy great sausages, bread, cheese, cidre and all kind of great and pure artisan food and drinks in a very industrial environment. The place is the ultimate place to relax and chill especially when it's sunny on the terrace and when it's cold indoor in the tasting room of the Kaapse Brouwers. The large quayside warehouse that is was once has been transformed now into a drink and food outlet.

Would not of found this place without TripAdvisor and so glad I did. Artisan producers providing high quality products at good prices. The lunch board is a must have! If in Rotterdam cross the river and have a treat

My wife and I searched out the Fenix Food Factory as I'd heard that it was the new home of Kaapse Brouwers. It was an easy walk from Rijnhaven metro station to the large quayside warehouse that's been transformed into a food and drink outlet.Kaapse have set up a bar and bottle shop and were in the process of installing there brewkit. The bar featured 20 quality European beers on tap including three of their own and if peckish there was a selection of meats, cheeses, breads etc from some of the other stalls and a mobile pizza oven was also fired up. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining that they'd normally have around six of their beers available but brewing had been restricting due to relocating the kit. This place is an excellent addition to the Rotterdam beer scene and I'd say it's come straight in at the top so I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Might be not the easiest thing to find 'cause it's behind high buildings, but if you walk around Hotel New York you'll see people sitting outside of the cool industrial warehouse. Fenix Food Factory is the concept that takes you back to old-school craft. You can find a brewery, bakery, butcher and more. You pair for the good quality you get, even though that's a really fair price. The vibe is vintage and really relaxt, the view outside is beautiful. Don't skip this cool part of the city!

Ok finding this was a lucky hit for me in my own city. Hidden behind the high rise buildings and the popular Hotel New York I saw people sitting on benches in front of an industrial warehouse. Curious what it was we went inside to find a great selection of shops selling good food, The lunch conceptis great, you pay to get your own food-board and after that you visit all theses shops and you get a few slices of bread, some cheese, coffee, meat, fruit, cider, beer and coffee. All produced on the spot or at least locally. Food is great, not the crappy factory stuff and the crowd was a nice mix of young, old, hip and hippie. Because you have to sit on benches there is alot of mingling which adds an extra dimension. On sundays there are also special food items like seafood or fresh baked pizza.Naturally you can buy more produce at the shops but thats all up to you.

Great place, very down-to-earth concept but with heavenly features. Loved the delishops and the different places to sit down and relax. Weather permitting lovely terrace too. You easily spend more than you anticipated. Everything is fair priced, but you feel like a kid in a candystore. Not at all a bad thing!Visit their website for daily changing programming and special workshops. When already in the Hotel New York area, just cross the walker's bridge on the lefthandside to be at the Fenix.
