The architecture alone is worth the visit (I think the dome is the 2nd largest unsupported dome in the world). Its very highly decorated inside and has some amazing history..during WW2 a bomb fell through the roof during a service and slid up one of the aisles without exploding! The downside is that there are always people trying to sell you things.

This is an imposing, impressive building - one of the largest unsupported domes in the world, bigger than St. Paul's in London and Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, but smaller than the Duomo in Florence and St. Peter's in Rome. The miracle of the unexploded bomb is also an attraction; you can see a replica of the bomb in the sacristy next to the souvenir counter. For me, however, the magnificence of the paintings on display is what really makes this rotunda worth a visit. The acoustics are awful - do not attend a concert here; even the services are a jumble of words unless you are next to one of the speakers.Outside you are spoilt for choice with good coffee, excellent street food and various clothes shops. A new shop, 'Village Gourmet' has opened, selling oils on tap; very friendly and good quality. Parking can be a problem.Best tip - check opening times. This week it was 9:00-11:45 and 15:00-14:00. The website information says 9:00-11:00 and 15:00-17:00.

This place is very well worth a visit and the time, spent here, will give one a perspective of Maltese history.

Worth making a detour to visit the church which has an impressive huge rotunda. There is a really good cake shop opposite!

This church (rotunda) is serving a small town of around 20.000 people. It is hard to believe. It is really huge and impressive . The story of the German bomb that penetrated the roof but did not explode adds to the impression.

Hi guys i basically live in mosta. It s a nice church to visit and the only think worth viewing is the church. I find it very strange that i see lots of tourists coming over to see the inside of church and all they see closed doors. During siesta time church will be closed.

Church of St. Mary is a great treat for history and architecture enthusiasts. The exterior of the cathedral is impressive, but wait until you see inside. The interior of the dome is amazing.Rich heritage for the residents of Mosta.

Beautiful church, not only from the outside but in particular the great dome on the inside. A visit to the room where the replica of the bomb is exhibited, should not be missing. You do not need, unlike many other famous churches on Malta, a ticket to visit this church!

While it has limited opening hours, approximately 9-11.30 and 3-4.30, this rotunda is well worth a visit. Based on the Pantheon in Rome, it is a credit to its cooperative builders and designers and its relatively small congregation who have produced an edifice deserving of considerable acclaim

The size of the dome in itself is very impressive, it is also beautifully decorated. The story about the bomb piercing the dome is amazing, and is greatly illustrated by the replica that is housed inside the church. The church is very easy to access by bus, with a stop right outside that's served by several routes.Well worth a visit.

Yesterday I visited the church in Mosta called the Rotunda, which once you see it, makes perfect. It is just a short ride from Valletta central bus terminal.... ticket costs 1.50 euros for the whole day (!)... and stops directly in front of the church. Inside it is a beautiful church, full of mosaics, statues, and impressive religious symbolism. But the really interesting thing about the Rotunda is the miracle which happened there in April 1942,during an bombing run by the Luftwaffe. To find out more about this go to the small museum/ treasury on the left side of the main altar,... a small doorway, not requiring a ticket. There you will see a replica of the bomb which fell on the church, but didn't explode. The faithful of the church attribute it to intervention from the Blessed Virgin Mary. Go, read the reports.... decide for yourself. But don't try to convince the 300 worshipers who were inside the church when the bomb came through the roof that it was just a coincidence! Take your time and enjoy this beautiful "miraculous" church.

This is a wonderful building and in a great position. The architecture is amazing and it was well laid out. The pictures and decoration inside was outstanding and it had a very calming atmosphere inside.

The Mosta Dome is a really lovely church. The largest unsupported dome and one of the most interesting churches I have visited. There are lots of impressive and fine paintings and figurines and the story about the bomb that went right through the dome during Second World War is supported with a replica and further information in pictures. It is only open to the public until 12 noon, so visit early.

Mosta Rotunda church boasts the third largest unsupported dome in the world and was nearly destroyed during World War II when a bomb came through the dome of the church but failed to explode. Another two bombs also bounced off the dome and ended in the square without exploding either. A replica bomb has now been installed in the sacristy as a memorial to the event. NOTE - CHURCH CLOSED from about 1145 to 1500hrs so visit early or after 3pm. No admission charge.Travel from Valletta on number 15 bus or from Sliema on 225 (actually the same bus which changes its number on arrival in Sliema from 15 to 225)..
