We have camped all over the lake before, but the best spot I know of is just a bit past the lake. Go right at the T and look really good for a hidden turn on the right. Nice fire pits, right by the creek and concrete slab. It's not a campground, nor is it marked. Its locally owned property of h&h mine. Your allowed to camp, but not pan for gold. Excellent spot. Camped there for a week or so and loved it.

Huge meandering lake with great hiking trails, swimming, boating, fishing. A Western reservoir to be sure but really clean and surrounded by beautiful forested mountains. Hike in and take a dip when you get hot.

This is average as lakes go. It's a relatively large lake. Kids often take the scary jump off the bridge into the water. I wouldn't do that or course. The lake is a long drive from Medford, but it's a beautiful drive on country roads. While you're out that way, a stop at McKee Bridge and the restaurant there is interesting.Jane L.

This used to be a great place to go but is not taken care of like it used to be. The lake is beautiful but sometimes there can be a little rowdy crowd with no one to control situations. The area is a beautiful place.

Nice lake for picnicking and swimming. I've never fished there but many people do. Some areas have late season opening due to weather but a clean place and nice for families.

Brilliant spots all along the lake/dam. # friends picknicked there, in the creek in cool, clear untainted water.....had the time of our life, and even did a small amount of river rafting on our butts....great fun

Applegate lake is a fun spot to come if you're looking for low-key lake activities. There's a nice swimming spot (Harper's Bar, I think?) at the far end of the lake, but it does get crowded pretty quickly on weekends or holidays. If you're looking to whip around on a boat or go tubing or water skiing, head up to Lake of the Woods, since you can't go over 15 mph here.

worth checking out when in southern oregon, there is also an applegate river. the town of jacksonville is fun to visit on your drive out to applegate lake.

A small lake without the hustle and bustle of larger skiing lakes. You can hike around (spring wildflowers are nice) or go for a swim or go camping. Across the lake is a trail to the "Bigfoot Trap". hahaha Very Oregon thing to see.The drive up to the lake takes you through some of the prettiest countryside. A nice Sunday drive for the family.

This has a great dedicated swimming area - strictly fishing and relaxing. The only thing it lacks is some sort of lodge or dining facility. Bring your own picnic.

The drive out there is a fun wildly winding road through forest and mountains but upon arrival only a small parking area is available. The water front has a small beach but theres a nice rock to swim out to and sun yourself. Up ahead there is a large bridge witch many of the locals jump off of depending on the season and depth of water. I saw some people jumping off it but I wouldn't, I've heard that a couple people have died.

Took our 20 year old son to swimming area of lake. First time for all of us. Lots of area to spread out and enjoy the sun and activities. Nice beach area for floating on rafts, etc. water always a bit on the cold side due to mostly snow runoff, but great on a hot summer day! Definitely worth checking out!

Amazing location, staff, view, and all around the best place in southern oregon to have a wedding. They provide everything i needed to have the wedding that fit me and my husbands personality so perfect. The campgrounds are close enough to cordinate the event smoothly. I couldn't of asked for a more perfect setting and place for our family and friends to get together and celebrate for a weekend trip. It is worth the drive and price to go and experience this spot,

A great place for hiking, pickniking, or just enjoying the views. Near good wine tasting places and not too far from Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass

A little drive out of town but so worth it for swimming, picnics and getting back to nature. Take a leisurely drive out Highway 238 past the town of Ruch to the Applegate Lake, you won't regret it.
