If you only have time to take a drive by look, ok a stop and park and take a short hike and see the Giant Sequoias. This is the spot. You get to see a General, [Grant not Sherman] walk thru a tunnel tree and do it all in less than 53 minutes.Be advised that Jellystone Park service can not keep all the roads open when it snows, so check for closing if it is the winter months. Nice how this park [Kings Canyon] charges a fee and the other park up north [Sequioa National Park] also charges a fee during the same time period.

Grants grove is located in Kings canyon, but it is at the top and open year around. The huge trees are awe inspiring, and I never get tired of seeing them. there are three main campground s in the area and one of them os kept open even during winter.

The Grove is a once-in-a-lifetime experience: The giant Sequoias with fun places like the fallen burned-out tree that to can go through. It has universal appeal: When we were there a group of Buddhist monks were also exploring the Grove. A great place for everyone.

The history of the area is richer than I originally thought. The smells and the view are wonderful, and the rangers are easy to find, friendly, and happy to take pictures of visitors.

I missed the sign saying you could not bring your dog on the trail. I ended up carrying her through it. Relatively easy trail to walk through in about 30 minutes

We all loved the small walk around the grove to General Grant tree. Such a beautiful place and so clean. Nice to see things litter-free.

From the parking lot follow the 0.3 mile loop to view the General Grant Tree. It measures 268 feet tall and 107 feet around. It is about 2000 years old and still growing. There is a special Yuletide celebration under it's branches each year. Check the park calendar for details.

This is one of the most important features of the park. Stop by and enjoy it, you may encounter a few German tourists and that will confirm you are in the right location!

This is what you came for - easy access to the big boys. Breathtaking, awesome, easy to get to. Surrounded by hiking trails from easy to moderate, and stables nearby as well.

The place to see a great many giant Sequoias. Trails range from short and easy strolls to longer and more challenging hikes.

I liked the variety at this place with almost every service, plus that nice historical feel to it. We stayed at the Wuksuchi but I would stay here next time.

This area is a nice area in Kings Canyon. There is a lodge, restaurant, gift shop, market, visitors center. There seemed to be ample parking, but we did go there during off season.

A short drive on the main highway to the trail head east of Grants Grove. This area has the stumps of a large sequoia forest that was logged about 100 years ago. One stump is called the Chicago Stump, as it was cut down, split into smaller pieces, and sent to the Chicago Worlds Fair as an exhibit. Only a few miles of dirt road off the highway, then about 15 minute walk, roundtrip, to the stump and back. Worth the walk to see this very large stump and read the exhibit displays.

Much easier access and less strenuous trail to see the General Grant Tree, which is in the came category as the General Sherman Tree.
