Located on the St Joe River in South Bend, the Howard Park offers plenty of open space for picnics and party's. In the winter enjoy the fruits of the ICE RINK. Updating the facility is in the making- though it is quite sustainable already, the City wants to make it more inviting and modernize the overall facility.

Howard Park Ice Skating Rink is a welcoming outdoor rink with a large warming house. We skated free at an evening Ice-Travaganza. SKATE RENTAL and concession stand. Skating starts day after Thanksgiving. Afternoon and evening sessions, check with South Bend Parks Dept for sessions. Learn to skate with Irish Figure Skating Club sign up at www.irishfsc.org.

Love the 5K here every year! Breast Cancer Awareness is a great cause! Everyone should partake! It is a fantastic event for the whole family, plenty of great South Bend sights to take in throughout the walk! Something I look forward to every year! Make it a must do for you!

This is a nice little park within walking distance of downtown or the Chocolate Cafe area. Has a nice playground, a nice view of the river, a memorial or two. During the winter it's open for ice skating. Also a bathroom is available. Check it out.

This park, as well as Merrifield Park (in Mishawaka, IN) hold a lot of childhood memories for me. These were my favorite places to skate during the winter, other than the local indoor rinks.
