Impressive, small gallery with extensive collection of Kansas artists' work, including Birger Sandzen's paintings and prints!

world class art for this post-impresionist. Sits on the campus of Bethany College where Birger Sandzen taught. A great clean gallery space with pristine 50s architecture. a must if your are traveling to little Sweden

This art museum is surprisingly wonderful, with beautiful museum quality art and artifacts from a variety of artists and countries. There is both 2-D and 3-D art in a variety of media. The grounds are very beautiful, and the staff is friendly, too. Well worth going to see multiple times, as the contents change from month-to-month.

Free. A rotating exhibit of the largest collection of the artist's works. The present exhibit is of some of his best works. The other artists on display, particularly Oscar Jacobson are well worth the visit.

While the popularity of the Swedish-American impressionist, Birger Sandzen, has been growing in the United States (and along with it, the value of his paintings), his work remains largely unappreciated. This gallery at Bethany College, where Sandzen taught for many years, showcases Sandzen's paintings, which have been described as "an ecstasy of color".The gallery also has a significant permanent collection, though selections from it are not displayed on a regular basis. Their special exhibits are typically very good and worth seeing. The facility itself was recently rennovated. I appreciate the calm, contemplative atmosphere of the gallery and their courtyard. I always leave there feeling refreshed!
