No access, but we spent about 10 minutes enjoying the view. Took a few photos, and were on our way. Ocean is such a beautiful color from where we stood.

The views from the lookout are just stunning, if you have a little energy you can do a hike along the ridge to get different perspective on the canyon.

If you visit the Waimea Canyon when you are visiting Kauai, you must continue on the road north to the Kalalau Lookout. Once you arrive at the Lookout area, a very short walk takes you to amazing views of the Na Pali Coast. As other reviewers have said, get here early to beat the crowds. There are restroom facilities available here. This is a MUST SEE when visiting Kauai!

You could see it all, we did. I fell in love with the Kauai chickens. Go early is the best advice. About 9 or 10 am, you will see the crowds starting to make sightseeing a little harder. You can stay in the car the whole way, and yes, do go to the end as long as you are going. Beautiful! Bring a camera, good shoes, shorts and look like a tourist and have fun.

Fantastic. Views of the Coast, go early the crowds converge at about 10:00 am. Excellent walk along the cliff edge is the best area for photos.

You could drive almost all the way to the lookout point without walking. So just do it if your group has children or senior. It really worthy of the time and efforts. The view is beautiful and you won't regret.

Be sure to continue your visit to the canyon with a drive to this sight. It is a lovely view over the Napali Coast. You can picnic and we saw nene geese.

My favorite overlook was the Kalalau Lookout. It is amazing to look down into the valley and watch the clouds form and rise up the hillside. I didn't stop at all of the lookouts but there is some great scenery here.

We love the view and rush to the top each year. TIP: get there before 10:30a or you'll run into clouds. Make sure you don't just look out from the cement part. Head down the hill, better view!

It is a little bit of a drive up into the canyon to reach this lookout, but the views from here are spectacular. For those with limited mobility who cannot do some of the more rigorous hikes or helicopter tours, this is a nice way to view some of the beautiful Na Pali coast.

Best chance for clear views and certainly less crowds is when you get on the road early in the day. Spectacular views!

This is one of the most spectacular views in the Islands. It requires about an hour drive up Avery winding narrow road and is at the end of the road past Waimea Canyon lookouts. Our last two visits, including today were obscured by thick clouds, we saw nothing. However if you wait for weather to change anywhere on Kauai it will, and you will be rewarded with magnificent scenery, Ther is a rest room and picnic benches here.

On our first visit we could not see anything. Waimea Canyon was great but here it was rainy and foggy. On our second try it was much better. While not completely clear, the view was breathtaking. It may seem like a long drive for a 10-15 minute stop but it is worth it. Other than a helicopter or boat ride, this is really one of your few chances to get a good view of the Na Pali Coast.

We went to Waimea Canyon. My husband is a geologist so it was a 'must' for us. I was not enchanted. Since it was a 'blue sky' day and a photographer's dream, we pressed on down the road to the Kalalau Lookout and I am SO GLAD we did! What a fabulous, breathtaking, awe-inspiring view. I wanted to start singing "Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies" when I saw it. If you have gone to all the trouble to drive to Waimea Canyon --- do yourself a favor to travel on to Kalalau. You will be glad you did. Unless, of course, it is raining, and then there's no point in going. Restroom at the lookout.

Ok this may be the best vista on the island. The only issue is it can get foggy and windy. The third visit was the charm as it was clear and foggy the other two times.Try the hike as well. It has spectacular views I did 1.5 miles to a look out. Well worth it.
