This is not the Pittsburgh Symphony, but it is as good as you'll find for a long way. I've been following the development of this remarkable orchestra for a long time, and it just keeps getting better. The orchestra can play most compositions quite well but programs to suit broad tastes. It is such a community asset because it fosters a youth orchestra, a chorus, a children's chorus, special ensembles, an opera gala, and nice social occasions. The hall is excellent: the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. There's always a good art show in the gallery that extends the length of the hall.

Johnstown Symphony Orchestra has been celebrating 85 seasons lead by Maestro Istvan Jaray. We attended the "The 125th Commemoration of the Johnstown Flood" during the 2013-2014 season and had a wonderful evening. This seems to be the cornerstone of Arts for this area.
