Unfortunately, we arrived shortly before they were due to close. I will definitely return to see more of this building. Just a fantastic Victorian building, from the era when using the library was only for the wealthy, because people had to pay a fee to use it. They also have special exhibits from time to time.

This smaller building is a marvel of innovation which must be personally experienced to appreciate.Given the choice I would visit the Old Library Museum before the Old Courthouse.

This is a neat photo opp building due to the natural colors used and the shape. Make sure you go inside as this is a free visit. Nice lady manning the inside desk along with a sheet of paper giving the history of the building. Old wooden shelves on the second floor with books to show how it appeared 'back in the day'. Currently there was a great exhibit on the main floor regarding taverns in the area during long ago, and some of the items you would see in the taverns. Enjoyable to spend at least 20 mtes of your time here.

Great octagonal building in the corner of the New Castle Green. Always has an interesting local history exhibit and the on going collection of books. Great place for students Delaware history!

This small stately library was designed by Frank Furness who is famous for buildings thorughout the east. It still has original books on the top level. The downstairs level serves as a small free museum which has rotating exhibits about the history of the area. There is free street parking in front of the library.
