kazoo factory, museum, & gift shop of eden

The birthplace of the kazoo and the only place where metal kazoos are made. Very interesting and the gift shop is wonderful, especially if you are looking for a unique gift.

Stopped into this lovely factory while visiting Eden. A relaxing step back in time. We learned the history of the Kazoo, along with seeing the little pieces of metal get turned into instruments. The fact the factory employs disabled persons is a plus. Loved it!

The history of the kazoo was very interesting and the making of a kazoo was interesting!! I was surprised how unkempt the facility was and the owners (?) had a 'junk' shop in front of the factory. This facility employed developmentally delayed adults as factory workers so that was a redeeming grace. We loved the information and wished it had been presented in a cleaner fashion.

Fun stop in the charming little town of Eden. The grandkids loved being able to make a kazoo themselves. My husband loved all the different machines. I liked the unusual kazoos. Everyone that visits the museum gets to put a pin on the map. All the pins and places will amaze you!

Eden is just south of Buffalo, NY and easy to get to. This factory and gift shop are interesting and also fun. We watched the kazoos being made and also put together one by hand. Some are made interesting shapes. The people are nice and friendly.

The Kazoo Capital of the world and suppose to be the only Kazoo mfg in the world making metal Kazoos. Still using 100 year old machinery, Gift shop and view of manufacturing.

Because of new grand baby museum was closed but after a long drive with three kids the factory employees could not have been nicer. Did not let kids down, let them make their own kazoos. Let us in for tour.

The kazoo factory is definitely an "out of the box" kind of adventure that my family typically loves. However, the website did not make it clear that the factory only churned out kazoos on specific days. So while it was cool to read the history and see photos of how kazoos are made, I would have much preferred to see the factory in action as they were making the kazoos. We did get to make our very own kazoos, which was pretty cool. Although I will say a day later, my husband wanted to throw the homemade kazoos out the window! Definitely call ahead and check the manufacturing schedule before you take the trip!

you know you're in a special area when its prime attraction is so rudimentary an instrument but we've always enjoyed the kitsch of the gift shop as well as the eyewitness to the creation of kazoos... extraordinarily popular with "Red Hatters," who have adopted this joyful annoyance as their instrument of choice

If you ever find yourself in or near Eden, NY, this is a great stop. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It's not the longest tour but you get the idea, and you can actually MAKE your own metal Kazoo.great for kids. Tour is free and it was $2.50 for the make your own kazoo kit. T-shirts and magnets are available.

What a treat! The lady who was running the gift shop today, also led the tour, and was so helpful, and shared so many interesting tidbits.Our party of 7 even had a few naysayers at the idea of seeing a "kazoo museum", but EVERYONE was won over. To see this machinery from over a century ago operating smoothly and helping very able workers produce a cool little product, with so many hand fed operations (18). It was a real treat to see.The gift shop was well stocked with interesting objects, many of which had ties to Western New York. And KAZOOS, of course!HIGHLY recommended!

The factory runs just like it did 100 years ago and you can make one for $2.99. What a keepsake. But you better like the sound because you are going to hear it for miles and miles. I think the kids will remember this with fond memories. Glad we stopped.

This is a must if you are in the area. Extremely family friendly this museum has a see through glass to observe the instruments being made. There is a history in written form on the walls. There is no guided tour. The thing that makes it worthwhile is there is a machine to make your own. For a nominal fee you crank the machine and out drops a "self' generated kazoo.

It is a great tour for kids. I took my students there many times. They were able to make their own kazoo and it really interesting to see all the different types and the history behind company and the products.

This place just makes you happy. The factory was in full swing when we got there, plus the wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable woman in charge of the gift shop was setting out chocolatey treats in honor of Mothers' Day and insisted we partake. Despite all she had to do, she happily took the time to help us make our own kazoo. We still can't believe admission is free. The non-profit offers employment in a non-stressful setting to people who are developmentally disabled. There aren't many places in this country where the machinery is still run by huge belts. It's woefully under visited, but you won't regret stopping in. Go, and be a 10 year old again. Buy kazoos for everyone in your life and start a new musical tradition at your next family get together. Remember--you're helping an American-run company that's still located in America.
