st. joseph church and gardens

We got married here. It is a beautiful church in a great neighborhood. If you are in the area for St. Joseph's Day, they put on one of the most spectacular alters!

Besides the historical Church the complex includes a school and convent, both converted to senior citizen housing.

St. Joseph Church in Gretna is over 175 years old, but was renovated back to its original beauty in the last 20 years or so. This is my parish church and it is one of the more popular ones for weddings in the greater New Orleans area because of its beauty. My own daughter married here five years ago. The Church is beautiful and the gardens in the back make for lovely photos. There is a 4:00 pm Saturday Mass and on Sunday the Masses are at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 am.

Beautiful Church and grounds in Old Gretna. The church is within walking distance from the Gretna- Canal Street Ferry.

We have been members for a number of years. It is a beautiful church in a lovely old neighborhood that is very vibrant. It is an historical area only minutes from the French Quarter in New Orleans. Mass is 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 on Sundays. The church was designed by a German architect that was well known in New Orleans. Old Gretna was settled by Germans and has a German Cultural Center. In the surrounding area, there are several good restaurants, a Saturday farmers market and it is only 6 blocks from the river where you can sit and watch the ships pass or ride a bike on the levee between the Gretna Ferry landing and the Algiers Ferry landing on The Point. Very interesting area historical area and beautiful church where you can be welcomed and enjoy a lovely mass.

I liked this church because the mass was only 45 minutes. It was a very beautiful church with intricate designs and statues. If you are in the area, stop by and attend the mass. Take time to pray and light a candle in the worship spaces.
