germantown colony museum

My wife and I have noticed the signs for the Germantown Colony Museum several times when we have been in the Minden area and have always intended to see what it is about. So, we took the 7 mile drive from downtown Minden to the little museum tucked back in the woods, and were pleasantly surprised. While the grounds were too soggy due to recent rains for us to walk around much, we very much enjoyed visiting with the museum director and seeing the little museum that is on the grounds. The museum is full of artifacts collected from the grounds and from locals who are descendents of the German colonists. The story of the colony and establishment of the museum is a most interesting one and well worth your time. It provides an interesting aspect of local history that I am sure many of the locals are not even aware of. It is well worth a few minutes of your time to drive out and see this treasure.
