What a lovely introduction to some of the local flavour of Baton Rouge! Great live music and delicious food and hot drinks to keep us warm. We bought art work and jewelry, cheese, spices and locally made chutneys and jams. Beautiful location and easy parking.

Every Saturday, rain or shine, local farmers gather to sell their fresh fruits, veggies, eggs, and more in downtown Baton Rouge. I buy all of my herbs for the garden here as well as fresh honey! It is "the place to be" on Saturday mornings. You are very likely to run into the Mayor and many other BR dignitaries! It is a great place to take the kids! Breakfast is available inside at a couple of the vendor spots! Have fun!

If you have never been on a Saturday, it's a real treat in downtown B.R. Great for families. The first Saturday of the month enjoy the arts and crafts as well. If it rains, not to worry, it's all in the North St. garage. I love supporting our local farmers. They are the best!

We are at this market when it opens on Saturday morning at 8 A.M.—rain or shine. If it's raining the market will be inside the parking garage (parking is free in this garage on Saturdays). Fresh tomatoes, corn, bell peppers, kale, squash, peaches, black eyed peas, onions, blueberries— foods low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals. There are also vendors who sell herbs and flowers for your garden. Local baked goods, (breads, pies, cakes), jellies, honey, lamb, chicken, shrimp, fish, eggs and local milk may also be available. On the first Saturday of every month the Arts Market is held adjacent to the Farmers Market. Here you will find a nice selection of local artisans and their wares—from birdhouses to pottery and a lot more. A good place to buy gifts for friends and yourself.Come down on Saturday morning, eat breakfast and maybe listen to some local musicians. You may run into friends and acquaintances—we do. Chat a while and enjoy the morning knowing you are supporting local farmers.

This is an outdoor market that happens every Thursday and Saturday in Baton Rouge from 8:00 to 12:00 pm. It's wonderful to get fresh produce, herbs and other plants, home grown beef and other delectables and, at the same time, support the community.

In walking distance from where we stayed. Fair amount of vendors. Very limited organic vegetables but the veggies we did get were all high quality. Would return again.

Great environment with ability to purchase homemade goods from arts and crafts to baked goods. A Saturday of family fun in downtown Baton Rouge.

I didn't know about this market until last year when I went with a sister in law. Talk about wonderful--I got some home made pies, went half on a flat of strawberries, some incredible locally made honeys (made with bourbon!) and some lovely cheeses. The honey was a Christmas gift for a hunter and the other food items were totally consumed by the family the next day!! Best strawberries I've had in recent memory--just clean and eat! It's worth your while to go check out the market-all sorts of vendors and items! (December 2012)

If you want to experience--see, smell, taste. hear--a real cross-section of Baton Rouge, the best place to do it is at Fifth and Main on Saturday morning from 8-noon at the Red Stick Farmers Market. Local growers from the region bring the best that Louisiana has to offer of seasonal produce, prepared foods, garden plants, plus cooking demonstrations, music, and always something unexpected. The baked goods are second to none. Inside Main Street Market you have wonderful choices for breakfast and lunch, delicious cooked to order crepes, ethnic, and good comfort food. This celebration of our city has just celebrated its 17th anniversary and gets better with every year, Sponsored by the Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA), which needs everyone's support to keep the market alive.

This farmer's market was great! We visited on a Saturday morning, and the place was packed. We listened to live music as we ate delicious crepes. I got the bananas foster crepe, yummy! There was lots to see, tons of vendors. I picked up some fresh fruit, honey, fresh bread, a cool plant, and a couple other things. It was a lot of fun. The only downsides were the crowd and the bathrooms weren't great.

I can't believe this market has been going on for over 10 years! It has turned into a very nice place to go on a Saturday morning. Wonderful people and wonderful products.

It's nice to go down on a Saturday morning, eat breakfast, and go shopping for fresh produce, wine, and plants.

Lots of fresh produce and products. We purchased a half a flat of strawberries for $13, some goat cheese spread, a fresh baguette, fresh Jersey butter, carrots, brussel sprouts and some plants. Good variety of vendors.

Great downtown market. Arrive early for the best selection. Many items available. Friendly vendors and friendly customers. A traditional southern market.

I would eat here every day for lunch. There is a large variety of food at a reasonable price. They have everything from salad wraps to Chinese.
