The Alaska Zoo is more of a conservation center than a zoo, so to speak. It houses mostly local wildlife (many who cannot be returned to the wild, for different reasons). We enjoyed meandering along the trails to view the different animals along the way. It was a treat to see wolves and fox, as well as polar bears and seals. We will definitely go back to join in on the educational programs the zoo offers.

One quick note - we do NOT have a rhinoceros, we do have a few Musk Ox and some Yaks all of which have beautiful horns that would make any Rhino jealous!Thanks again!

As you mentioned the animals here are arctic animals and prefer to cooler temperatures. They tend to be quite active this time of year. Thanks again!
