Growing up in Arkansas, I only went to Lake Quachita, Hamiliton and Greers Ferry. I was so impressed with the facilities at Lake Catherine State Park. If camping is on your agenda, this place is a great destination.

Me and my family went here last March it was very peaceful. The only complaint we had was that a party was going on next door until 1am and they were extra loud. Plus one of the guest stayed up late practicing violin and the yurt are not very far apart. But view is nice and bathrooms are clean.

And even a waterfall that you can hike to. This is a good hiking area and if you don't have time you can just hang out at the lake side. Bathrooms are clean, picnic tables and BBQs .

This is a beautiful place to hike. There are different options whether you like a quick easy hike to the waterfall or more of a challenge. Especially nice to go in the fall or a sunny day!

We didn't have much time and did the Falls Branch Trail. There are three main trails in this area Dam Mountain Trail-White Blaze-4.5 miles, Falls Branch Trail-Red Blaze-2.0 miles, Horseshoe Mountain Trail-Yellow Blaze-3.5 miles. You could do one...all...or some combination of the trails - but look at the map before you go. The trail was well cut - some mild elevation. The waterfall was a nice feature (not too flowing in January). The State Park had a lot of camping/cabins, a beach area (when warmer), and lake. The view of the dam building is pretty strong and does take away from the wilderness feel. Could be a nice day or two...a very nice state park. We did use the bathroom in the visitor center; the toilets by the trailhead were closed the day we were there in January.

We stayed in one of the duplex cabins on Christmas break this year. The cabins were very clean and nice, had excellent views of the lake. We loved that each cabin has its own boat dock! Hiked a few if the trails up to a waterfall. We loved it! We will be back!

Loved the serenity and peacefulness. Lush, green surroundings. A wonderful place to pull up a lawn chair and do some fishing.

Very nice, quiet campground. Easy access from I 30, not too far from Hot Springs. Nice site, fire rings with grills, many back up to the water. Good maintenance, very clean. Friendly folks at check in. We camped in mh.

Our family has not every stayed in a yurt until our stay at Lake Catherine. We enjoyed taking our two dogs along on our getaway. Bath house was very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Severe thunderstorms hit the Hot Springs area on Sunday night and it was cloudy all day Monday. The weather didn't diminish the great time we had at Lake Catherine State Park. My wife and I stayed in a CCC era cabin right on the lake. From the knotty pine walls to the heart pine floors, the cabin was right out of the 1930s. Of course it has been updated with central air and heat and other modern amenities. The cabin was spotless and the grounds were well taken care of. We spent hours on the trails at the State Park. And even though the fish didn't cooperate, the fishing was still fun. From lunch at Hot Springs to a steak for dinner on the back patio we couldn't have had a better time.

Our experience started in February when we decided that a trip to Hot Springs was in order for September. Being tent campers we decided Lake Catherine would be a perfect location in order to visit nearby attractions.Needing some expert advice on a good camping site I called the Park and the person I talked to gave me the number of the site that seemed to be what were wanting and reserved it for the dates we expected to be there. From the moment we drove into the Park we were surprised and pleased. The folks at the Park Store where we registered were polite and very helpful AND the camp site was exactly what we wanted. All the sites seemed to be very roomy.. The trails are great and well marked. We didn't get the opportunity to go out on the water but all types of water activities were going on throughout our stay. Showers were clean and very well maintained as was all areas of the Park. As a "central " location" for all we wanted to see and do, Lake Catherine was perfect. I have to admit that camping amid the pine trees was one of my favorite things !RV ing or tenting, this is a must for a great experience !

Very pretty park and very peaceful except the night the plane flew directly over our lodging which was a bit unnerving. The rest of the trip was uneventful. Enjoyed the hiking trails and kayaking the shoreline of the park. Very enjoyable place to visit.

We loved the cabin. We had a family BBQ and look forward to staying in the cabins again. Only one cabin allows pets. I will be booking in advance for that one.

Went for a walk in Lake Catherine State Park after visiting Garvan Woodland Gardens in the morning. The are only 3 trails, which I believe are about 2, 3.5 and 4.5 miles in distance. The most popular one is the Falls Branch trail which is the 2 mile trail and ends up at the waterfall - although when we went it had been pretty dry, so there wasn't actually a waterfall to see! It was still a nice spot though, and the 3.5 mile walk was pretty good as well (we didn't do the 4.5 mile trail so can't comment on that). All in all, whilst it doesn't have a very extensive trail system, it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours, and the park is free to enter which is always good too.

We were only there for the day. We walked the trails to see the waterfall. Seems as though a lot of other people had the same idea. It would have felt good on a hot day, however, it was very crowded. The campgrounds looked nice. We wanted to come next year and camp, however it seems there is a very long waiting list. Very scenic
