This is a course designed for the thinking golfer. It is not a "grip it and rip it" course, nor is it a Pete Dye "punish a good shot" course. The course is maintained in about as natural and environmentally sensitive manner as I have ever seen, but it plays well. Some other local courses have recently closed; there is a reason this one has not. It punishes bad shots, rewards good shots, and makes you work to score after average shots. The restaurant staff and the "beer booth" staff are exceptional. They would do well at a private club on Hilton Head.
