We liked this peaceful walk through the forest and were very impressed by the height and the circumference of the mossy trees.

Dawson Falls side of the mountain offers a great deal of attractions. We spent the whole day up there because the weather was great and offered amazing views of the summit. Most of the walks around here are easy and well maintained. If you have the time try climbing up to Fantoms Peak where you will get some breath taking views of Taranaki and the park.

Recommend doing the full circuit walk. Beautiful forest. Great mountain views on the circuit, can get your feet wet on the river crossing but worth it.

Visited on a misty afternoon and were probably the only souls on the well-maintained track. Checked in at the Park Headquarters and ensured the weather was suitable as well as got a good informative overview of the area and what to see. Set off on an easy to walk well-defined trail. The bent trees, enormous ferns and green moss over the trail were a blast into the past and it was all rather spooky with the mist swirling around. The goblems were probably hiding from the cold but the sound of Tui and native pidgeons were amongst the trees above. All in all a good hour spent enjoying New Zealand flora and fauna at its best.

We followed the clearly marked and well-maintained tracks for several hours through this atmospheric forest and the surrounding areas. There is so much to look at: the dense, startlingly green forest is constantly fascinating but there are also rivers, bridges and pools along the way. A perfect way to spend a day.

If you like amazing areas this is a must, the trees are covered with moss from top to toe and you really start thinking of elves, goblins, fairies. Go for a walk and let your imagination run wild - good for the sole all over

Wonderful day walk in the Mt Egmont national Park. Really felt like Lord of the Rings/Middle Earth.Weather can really change so check weather report before walking at one of the visitors centres.
