essayed emin efendi watern cistern

The water cistern made of hewn stone and is located northeast of St Andrews Church and has an arched roof. In the western side of the Cistern there is a marble inscription written by Mevlevi Lodge Dervlish, Feyzi Dede in old Turkish. The inscription states that the water cistern was constructed by Esseyid Mehmet Emin Efendi, also known as Kucuk Mehmet, who was on duty in Cyprus as clerk to the tax collector between 1816 and 1821 and who was Governor of Cyprus in 1834.
