This is a phenomenal local secret. This place has grown and expanded for years... I know I've visited many times in the past 12 or so years. Service with a smile at the put in. 8 miles or approximately 5 hrs later arrive at Wekiva Marina and wait in the shaded pavilion, use the lovely bathroom facilities or order some food and beers at the bar. Once the pickup arrives, it's about a 20 minute ride in the ac back to your vehicle! What's not to love?

Full service rentals for canoes. Friendly helpful staff. Waters are pristine and lots of wildlife to see. Bass Fishing on this part of the river is good too.

For a small fee you can launch your own watercraft or rent a canoe or kayak. It cost $40 ($30 for all day kayak rental plus $10 for the shuttle back to my car). I rented a yellow kayak with a molded seat that had three different levels of places for my feet to rest. It was incredibly comfortable and much easier to use on the river than a canoe especially on sharp corners and in shallow areas. The staff was very friendly and had useful tips on how to use the kayak. There is a canal from the launch area out to the river so you have some time to get used to paddling. It took about 4 1/2 hours to reach Wekiva Island including a stop at Indian Mound for lunch and swimming. If you’re not familiar with the take out point at Wekiva Island hopefully the following helps: as you arrive at Wekiva Island paddle past the long row of deck chairs facing the river and look for the canal on the right. There’s a sign in the river saying turn right (up the canal) for Kings Landing. Go to the last possible dock on the right with the covered picnic tables. Getting out at the landing area was the hardest part and there were no gentle slopes on the banks. I ended up rolling out of the kayak and onto the dock. There’s no good way out but if you do end up in the drink the water’s only waist deep. The shuttle back to Kings Landing came as scheduled and the driver was incredibly courteous asking the men to make sure all the ladies had a place to sit first. Chivalry is NOT dead! I look forward to doing this trip again as it was fun, affordable and all downstream.

We launched our own kayaks at $10 each. A bit steep, in my opinion, but worth it once to see the beauty of Florida's nature. If you want to paddle the entire run, plan on paying their fee for pick up and be there early, from what I hear. We chose to paddle about halfway and return on our own. It took five hours to paddle downstream and back, having paddled roughly 4 miles each way. We didn't quite make it to the first campsite, as thunderstorms were rolling in. On the way back we had to paddle in a monsoon, against the wind and the current. The current is not swift, but slightly stronger than Wekiva Springs. It was not difficult; however, it was extremely annoying due to the horse, deer and black flies trying to seek shelter under the brims of our straw hats. NOT fun! Fortunately, the weather was beautiful on the first half of the journey and it was a rewarding day, especially for the photo op. Our reward at the end of our journey was a dip in the crystal clear, cool water near the entrance to the landing.I would not put in here again for two reasons: 1) $10 ($20 for two boats/people) to launch your own is a bit much, and 2) "Veni, vidi, vici."

This is one of the nicest places I've been to for canoeing. Very shaded river, slow flowing current, lots of nature. You have 2 options: we took the 1/2 day going downstream about 2 miles and then rowing back upstream, which actually took us about 2 hours. Then you can hang out and swim, picnic, etc. Other option is to go about 4 hours downstream and they pick you up. With more time, I would have done that. I imagine the effort to be about the same. Beautiful! Definitely going back and would recommend.

We really enjoyed our trip down the Wekiwa River. The river goes from crystal clear to tanic color. You do need to paddle back against a swift current. We did a round trip of about 8 miles. We saw several gators and HUGE bandanna spiders. We were very surprised that we only saw two birds. There are a lot of submerged logs that you need to watch out for. Check out the loop that is right across from the entrance to the river. It is well worth paddling against the very swift current to do this section. The river also has a lot of shade which is always nice.We thought the $10 fee for each kayak was very high. Normally we pay between $5-$7 dollars. On the bright side the workers did help haul the two 55 lbs. kayaks down to the river and they hauled both kayaks out and up to the grass for us. This made up for the $10 fee!

My husband and I took our three grandsons, ages 16, 7, and 4 and spent about three hours in well maintained and very clean canoes exploring the Wekiva. Then we spent another hour and a half swimming in the Springs. We loved it and hope to do it again when we get the opportunity! From our two canoes we saw alligators, and heard croaking of several that we couldn't see; we saw big and small turtles; Great Blue Herons, Anhingas, and Ibis. We saw butterflies including Swallowtails and this adventure was all on the clearest water I've ever seen. Gorgeous bright green lily pads bursting with yellow flowers and other flowering water plants of a myriad of colors made the ride even more amazing. It was a day immersed in the real Florida. And the staff at King's Landing was professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. In fact, we left a pair of sunglasses, that had great sentimental value, in one of our canoes and the next morning when we called them, they had found the glasses and were holding them at the desk for our pick up! If we could give more than 5 stars to King's Landing and the canoe adventure they offer, we would. I can't imagine anyone who likes being outdoors not loving a day of this.

Great time and scenery. Fishing was fun did catch and release, no work at all. Recommend bug spray. Wild life easy to see- alligators, turtles, birds fish. Men who work there very nice, well worth the cost.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon. We got the double kayak and went off for a splendid adventure which began at the swimming hole then off to the rock springs. The down to Wekiwa springs park. Watch out for alligators saw a giant snapping turtle. Loved this run.

My husband and I went to Kings Landing this past Saturday, Memorial weekend. We had a great time. We launched our own kayaks but arranged to be picked up at the end. Best decision, ever. The Owner was extremely friendly and the guy at the dock picking up rental canoes was super helpful. We didn't pick a set time to be picked up. They even tell you if you miss one pick up time you'll have to wait for the next. So we knew going in it would be on us if we missed the pick up time we wanted. The river wasn't crowded at all, and we had plenty of opportunities to stop and relax or eat lunch, mostly after the half way point. Before that there's not as many places to stop. We live fairly close to Apopka so we'll definitely be going again. Traffic getting into the park is pretty terrible because the Kelly Park entrance is a little before the Kings Landing entrance, which is generally where everyone is going so just be patient and wait it out.

Kings Landing canoe rental service was awesome. For a reasonable price they provide everything that you need to include vests, canoe, paddles, and fishing nets. They even pick you up with a bus afterwards. I took my 3 year old and we had a blast. It's a very long route about 8.5 miles but there are plenty of shady spots to cool off in the knee deep water. The only con is that there isn't very much room for parking. So arrive early.

King's Landing was one of the best discoveries we've made in quite a while. The place is beautiful! If unspoiled Florida is what you're looking for, this is where you'll find it. Both canoe and kayak rentals are available as well as a great picnic spot and launch area if you bring your own canoe. If you're looking to fish a while, bait and tackle, even fishing pole rentals are available. Daniel and Steve are wonderful and accommodating. The kids loved the beach/swimming area. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to experience the natural beauty of a spring fed Florida river.

We found Kings Lsnding on accident & we're not able to make the entire 8.5 mile trip due to time restraints & small children. We had two children under 3 years old & a seven year old with us. We paddled around for a couple of hours & stopped to let the babies swim at a shallow sandbar right beside the rental place. There was a rope swing there & a picnic table. It was a very enjoyable trip & Daniel was very helpful & patient as we took a long time getting geared up to go with the kiddos. We will be returning in the future!

Had a beatiful trip down the river from kings landing. Went up stream first, until a bridge closed the path and do not enter signs appeared, this took about 1hour from the rental up stream and back. A well worth detour if you like a little workout. After that we went downstream and used about 3,5 hour, including some stops and spending some time taking in the scenary.Would reccomend the tour to anyone, at any age, without doubt. If you have not paddled before, just be there early and take good time.Rented 4 single kayaks, age ranging from late 30s to 70s. One with no previous kayaking experience. Thanks to Steve for good service and pickup as agreed.
