As a family we visited with my parents and it is amazing all the items they have at this museum. It appealed most to my father, but we all enjoyed walking around and looking at all the interesting vehicles and other items.

This museum is huge. It has a HUGE Collection of Tanks and more. We had missed this on our first visit to Crawfordsville a year earlier and wanted to see this. I was so impressed there is so much. If going by, you must stop at this incredible museum!

We loved this museum. I learned a lot and my son begged to go back a second time. Lots of good things to see.

We were ridding the Harley and stopped to rest a while. Entered the museum and didn’t see anyone. We yelled with a loud voice, Hello... are you open? A voice hollered back at us “Come on in.” So we started to look at all the items on display. Someone was working with urgency because we could hear wrenches and other tools clinking together, then a man popped his head out of a tank. (look at photo's) Mystery voice was found. Various vehicles of different types and ages are on display an M3A1 scout car, to several WWII era Shermans, to a modern day M109 155mm self-propelled howitzer. Many of the vehicles have been restored to like new condition. The majority of the collection is housed in a heated and air-conditioned facility. Admission is Free - Donations are warmly accepted.

I spent 22 1/2 years in the Army. Went to alot of military museums in my life to include the Imperial War Museum in London. I walked into Fred's museum and was in awe. The collection of vehicles is staggering but what amazed me was all the correct tools, accouterments and articles that go along with them. Unbelievable! A must see.

Ropkey has several US armor vehicles I was unaware of! Nicely laid out, and well restored vehicles. Museum is free, but they ask for donations to keep their collection in good shape.

We make a yearly trip with the grandkids, each year they find a new favorite tank. Also stopped on a veterans motorcycle ride and loved hearing some of the older veterans talk about the tanks they were in.

My husband and I recently visited Ropkey Armor Museum for a quick day trip. What a hidden surprise! On this Indiana farm sits LARGE sheds filled with dozens of tanks, and other various military vehicles. There is even a large helicopter and a small submarine inside. The vehicles are from various wars, and have been collected over many years. Mr. Ropkey was available to show us around and told us stories the vehicles and their restorations. He restores the vehicles on site, and keeps them all in running order, although they are only run on special occasions.HIstory buffs will really enjoy this place. I don't know much about tanks, but they were quite a sight to see, up close and in person. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.
