shell point beach

This is a great semi private spot if you want to stay away from the crowds on the main beach Onset beach. Back in the day , Shell point was considered and called: The Back Beach. there is a parking lot to get into this side of the beach, be careful, cuz you just might miss the enterance. It is a pay to park lot but it doesn't cost much. Bring a lunch because this is a little further from the center of town to buy something to eat, also, there are no close restrooms near this end of the beach.

We really like coming to this spot, whether it daytime or evening. This year, though, the town decided to try parking-for-a-fee. We begrudgingly paid the fee, but weren't happy about it. I think there was enough grumbling this past year that the meter has been removed as of November. Clean beach. Family-friendly. Great view of the island and of the harbor and bay and you can watch the boats come and go.

What a great find this was...we pumped in "attractions" to our GPS and came across Shell Point Beach in Onset so off we went! It was a beautiful fall day when we visited and the beach is located at the end of a very residential area with small, narrow roads and beautiful homes (most summer homes). The beach itself isn't huge but plenty to relax, sight see and go for a nice walk. Plenty of parking, grassy picnic area is also available. A really beautiful location and I'm happy we found it. Spent just over an hour and a half walking the beach and collecting shells. Very relaxing location to get away from the business of life!
